Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Senior Scientific Support Specialist (Analytical Team) to join our dynamic team. Play a crucial role in supporting our customers in their Analytical Laboratory works on Depo & Skincare. With your sound technical knowledge, you will ensure compliance with Standard Operation Procedures and good manufacturing practices. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Completing and reviewing work assignments and adjusting workload and resources periodically with the team.
  • Mentoring and cross-training staff with a standardized training program and documentation.
  • Implementing required quality management systems to ensure customer work scope, results, and team performance meet approved SOPs and organization's safety and quality requirements.
  • Coordinating to ensure timely calibration of laboratory equipment and maintaining good laboratory housekeeping with the team.

The ideal candidate will work closely with customer’s internal teams to carry out chemical analyses for stability studies, product development and quality investigations, while ensuring adherence to all site-specific protocols, safety regulations and documentation standards. This role requires proficiency in analytical techniques such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Autotitration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical analyses for product stability studies, R&D and quality investigations using instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR and Autotitrator.
  • Support testing for various parameters including but not limited to Piroctone Olamine, Zinc Pyrithione, Menthol, Fatty Acids, Glycerine, Triclocarban (TCC) and Salicylic Acid.
  • Perform testing on internal raw materials, unfinished and finished products, including preparation of samples, standards, buffers and mobile phases.
  • Support ad-hoc testing requests, including FTIR and C2PM3 analysis (training will be provided if needed).
  • Document results in Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and upload data into the LIMS system (NEXUS).
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and ensure correct execution of lab equipment; call out issues to equipment owners or technical leads.
  • Follow safety protocols, maintain lab cleanliness, handle chemical inventory and audit readiness.
  • Follows customer site safety guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality systems (QATA, SOW).
  • Support investigations of quality events such as out-of-specification (OOS) results.
  • Serve as main point of contact for the customer in all service-related operational and quality matters.
  • Highlight potential delays and track progress of work.
  • Ensure service team compliance with customer site policies, documentation standards and customer concern.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field of Science.
  • Preferred with at least 1 or 2 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of "good laboratory practices" quality guidelines and regulations (cGMP).
  • Prior hands-on experience in a laboratory setting using instruments like HPLC, GC, FTIR and autotitrations.
  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation systems (ELN, LIMS) is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, Good documentation practices and proactive attitude and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced customer-facing environment.
  • Proficient in English both in written form and verbally.
