This role oversees all tax reporting and compliance for embecta’s APAC subsidiaries (excluding Greater China) across SEA, India, Japan, Korea, and Oceania.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and organize the preparation, review and submission of the direct and indirect tax return filings with external providers, track and oversight the tax liabilities and tax payments for APAC (excluding Greater China) subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate with tax compliance providers to ensure the proper reporting of completed transactions that occur throughout the year in APAC (excluding Greater China) region.
  •  Develop and maintain the company's transfer pricing documentation, support in the preparation of local CbC and Pillar 2 reporting requirements in APAC (excluding Greater China) region.
  • Advise on indirect tax matters as needed, including both VAT and GST in APAC (excluding Greater China) countries. 
  •  Advise on tax withholding and information reporting requirements.
  • Support quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provision reporting for APAC (excluding Greater China) entities including directing and reviewing local tax packages.
  • Monitor and collaborate in technical implementation of tax developments across the relevant jurisdictions, as well as legislative, tax and regulatory changes on the domestic and international fronts their implications and provide tax planning direction.
  • Support all APAC (excluding Greater China) tax audits, responses to tax notices and timely resolution of other tax controversy matters with foreign tax and administrative authorities, interact directly and handle discussions led by tax advisors.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with internal stakeholders and external advisors in the APAC (excluding Greater China) countries.
  • Analyze processes and recommend the improvements in the immediate areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in local projects or initiatives, evaluate potential impact on local tax aspects in APAC (excluding Greater China) region.

Requirements:

  • 5 + years experience of progressively responsible tax experience, in a mix of public accounting and multinational corporate environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance strongly preferred
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and business correspondence, ability to explain complex tax topics to a non-tax global audience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to be able to interact effectively both internally (across accounting, legal, tax etc) and externally (with consultants, statutory auditors and tax authorities)
  • Detail-oriented team player understanding the value of accuracy and able to complete the various tasks with timeliness and precision
  • Experience in working within tax rules in APAC (excluding Greater China) countries, regulations and tax authorities, with specific focus on India, Singapore, Japan, and Korea.
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A strong work ethic and passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution
  • Excellent analytical skills, written and oral communication skills and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated track record of success with prior positions reflecting increasing responsibility
