About this role:

As Senior Studio Artist at HBA Art, you will create original artworks for hospitality, commercial, and residential projects, while taking senior responsibility for presentation, client relationships, and project coordination. The role combines strong visual authorship with the ability to translate curatorial and design briefs into compelling artwork concepts, developed visuals, production-ready files, and well-managed client approvals.

Based in Singapore, you will support projects across Asia Pacific and collaborate with HBA Art teams globally. Working with the Creative Director, project teams, clients, artists, and fabricators, you will help move work from brief and concept through presentation, refinement, production, and installation, protecting creative intent while keeping communication clear and progress on track.

1. Research, Concept & Digital Artwork Creation

  • Contribute to curatorial strategy with the Creative Director, project team, and external stakeholders, grounding artwork concepts in site, culture, brand, and spatial narrative.

  • Undertake focused art and cultural research across local artists, heritage, craft, materials, visual references, and making processes.

  • Create original digital artwork concepts, studies, compositions, mock-ups, and visual tests that explore story, palette, scale, materiality, surface, texture, and installation impact.

  • Develop selected concepts into resolved artwork directions with clear composition, colour, finish, fabrication logic, and in-situ intent.

  • Use digital tools as the primary method of creation, while drawing on strong fine-art judgement, material understanding, and hands-on studio awareness.

2. Presentation & Client Leadership

  • Lead project-level client relationships through clear communication, responsive follow-up, and confident creative guidance.

  • Provide creative direction and constructive feedback to junior team members, external artists, makers, or creative partners where required.

  • Prepare polished visual packages and client presentations that communicate narrative, references, process, materiality, artwork direction, and recommendations.

  • Present creative work confidently in internal and client meetings, explain the rationale clearly, respond to feedback, and guide decisions.

3. Project Coordination & Delivery

  • Manage artwork development workstreams day to day, including priorities, deadlines, approvals, feedback, actions, supplier input, and internal coordination.

  • Coordinate with designers, consultants, suppliers, fabricators, and internal teams to protect creative intent, quality, feasibility, and programme.

  • Track decisions, risks, sample reviews, approvals, and next steps, ensuring information is clearly documented and shared.

  • Support artwork approvals, IP, credits, permissions, QA/QC, installation planning, and handover documentation with the wider project team.

4. Technical & Production Readiness

  • Prepare clear technical and production packages, including dimensions, colour and finish direction, materials, mounting methods, production notes, and quality expectations.

  • Prepare and review clean, production-ready digital files for print, CNC, laser cutting, 3D-print tests, or specialist maker workflows.

  • Review mock-ups, material tests, prototypes, and production progress, resolving technical queries with fabricators where needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong fine-art foundation, with excellent judgement in composition, colour, detail, materiality, and visual storytelling.

  • A confident creative practice and the ability to originate artwork ideas, not only interpret or document them.

  • Advanced digital artwork skills, particularly in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with confidence preparing presentation and production files.

  • Confident presentation and client communication skills, with the ability to explain creative thinking and guide feedback constructively.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, deadlines, approvals, and coordination across multiple projects.

Qualifications & Technical Proficiency

  • Degree in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, or a related creative field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a studio artist, visual artist, artwork creation, art consultancy, design studio, or fabrication-related role, with a strong portfolio of original digital and/or mixed-media work.

  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in additional Asian languages is advantageous.

  • Working knowledge of CAD, SketchUp, Rhino, or light 3D tools is advantageous for scale, placement, and fabrication coordination.
