Position Summary:
As a Senior Staff Systems Integration Scientist at Illumina you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and help create genomic analysis tools used in cutting edge research and clinical applications. You will participate in the development of high quality, robust products through the integration of hardware, software, and chemistry components. You will also lead the design and execution of test plans to optimize system performance. A major part of the role will be to work with manufacturing to ensure that our products are fully tested and diagnose any issues through troubleshooting experiments and root cause analysis.

Function as a key technical representative on project teams. Able to anticipate and manage technical risk,

Lead a technical area independently to accomplish significant technical advances related to project goals. Able to make technical decisions that have a large impact.

Lead cross-functional experimental planning and alignment based on broader project goals. Lead multi-disciplinary teams through complex technical execution.

Hands-on testing and integration of DNA sequencing/Array systems - hardware, firmware, software, chemistry/reagents, and application components

Aggregate workflow experiences to guide the development of industry leading user workflows for Illumina products.

Apply system knowledge to develop verification and validation strategies including the requirements for hardware and software, reagents, and consumables.

Owner of DVT deliverables. Lead authorship of DVT protocols and reports. Track and log of issues encountered during development.

Management of large data sets for programs. Use advanced analytical techniques to interpret complex data.

Drive establishment of new relationships with internal and external customers/collaborators and build framework for continued collaboration.

Consistently provide coaching to peers on broader product development areas.

Mentor direct reports on performance and growth opportunity.

Position Requirements:

Demonstrate understanding of Array/Sequencing systems and techniques.

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:

Previous experience working with high throughput screening technology has clear advantage.

Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
