Thales Singapore Engineering Competence Centre (ECC) is a well-established Research and Engineering centre serving major customers worldwide in Digital Identity and Security domains spanning from Mobile Connectivity, IoT, Automotive, Banking to Government products and solutions.
 

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will join our expanding team in designing and developing secure embedded products for major OEM customers targeted for mobile and IoT devices, in applications such as mobile payment, digital identity and IoT connectivity, as well as customers in the automotive industry that strives to connect and manage smart vehicles and their lifecycles, as well to secure and analyze their data.

Responsibilities

  • Applet Development Designing, implementing, and maintaining secure JavaCard applets for specific use cases like payment solutions and telecommunications (SIM cards).
  • Security & Cryptography Implementing and evaluating robust security functions and cryptographic algorithms (e.g., 3DES, AES, RSA, ECC) to protect sensitive data.
  • Standards Compliance Ensuring that all designs and implementations comply with industry standards and specifications, such as EMV, Global Platform, and ISO 7816/14443.
  • Testing and Debugging Conducting rigorous testing, including unit and integration tests, to identify bugs and potential security vulnerabilities, and collaborating on fixes.
  • Collaboration Working within cross-functional, often Agile, teams that may include software engineers, project managers, and quality assurance specialists.
  • Documentation and Guidance Preparing technical documentation for internal teams, partners, and customers, and potentially acting as a technical lead or mentor.
  • Customer Interaction Acting as a technical point of contact for customer and partner organizations to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Java & Visual Basic
  • Hands-on experience with secure elements and smart card technologies
  • Deep understanding of cryptographic methods (symmetric/asymmetric encryption).
  • Knowledge of Global Platform card content management and key management processes.
  • Experience with development tools like Git, Jira, and Eclipse
