The Opportunity

Doodle Labs is building next-generation wireless systems that enable autonomous systems and robotics to operate reliably in the most demanding environments. You will play a critical hands-on role in designing, validating, and transferring high‑performance radio modules from concept to production. This is a deeply technical role with end‑to‑end ownership, high visibility, and direct impact on product capability and company growth.

This role is best suited for an experienced RF engineer who enjoys solving hard design problems, moving fast from requirements to hardware, and collaborating closely with PCB, mechanical, and product engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

1. Deliver Production‑Ready RF Radio Designs

  • Within the first 4–6 months, translate product requirements into a fully functional RF radio module, including schematic design, front‑end RF design, and PCB implementation.
  • Own end‑to‑end RF design execution (approximately 80% RF / 20% analog), including power supplies, MCU interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C), Ethernet circuitry, and system‑level integration.
  • Produce working prototypes that meet performance specifications and are ready for validation testing and manufacturing handoff.

2. Design High‑Performance, Flexible, and Compact Radio Modules

  • Architect radio modules that support multiple configurations and frequency bands through BOM changes rather than redesign.
  • Optimize designs for smallest possible form factor while meeting or exceeding RF performance, thermal, and reliability targets.
  • Conduct RF simulations and front‑end analysis to validate design choices before fabrication, reducing iteration cycles and risk.

3. Lead Validation, Documentation, and Design Transfer

  • Plan and execute RF and system‑level testing, verifying performance against specifications and documenting results clearly.
  • Prepare basic but complete design documentation (schematics, test results, design rationale) suitable for long‑term product support.
  • Successfully transfer designs to Product Engineering, ensuring smooth ramp into manufacturing without requiring major redesigns.

4. Drive Technical Rigor and Cross‑Functional Execution

  • Organize and lead design reviews throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating feedback from RF, PCB, mechanical, and product stakeholders.
  • Develop and track project plans and milestones, coordinating closely with cross‑functional partners to meet aggressive timelines.
  • Proactively identify technical risks and tradeoffs, recommending solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.

5. Contribute to Next‑Generation Radio Technology

•          Support the development of high‑power linear power amplifier modules to extend radio range and performance.

•             Contribute to roadmap efforts involving next‑generation WiFi, BLE, and GPS integration, helping define future product capabilities.

What Success Looks Like

  • You deliver a validated RF radio module that meets specifications and can be manufactured without major redesign.
  • Your designs are flexible, compact, and scalable across multiple SKUs and frequency bands.
  • Cross‑functional teams trust your technical judgment and rely on you to move designs forward efficiently.
  • Product Engineering can take your designs into production with confidence.

How You’ll Ramp

  • First 30 days: Learn existing design approaches, tools, and product architecture; evaluate new product requirements and constraints.
  • By 60 days: Complete schematic design and RF simulations, with design choices validated and reviewed.
  • By 90 days: Finalize PCB design, support prototype builds, and prepare documentation for testing and validation.

Who You’ll Work With

  • PCB design engineers and CAD engineers on layout and implementation
  • Mechanical engineers on enclosure, thermal, and integration constraints
  • Product and Product Engineering teams during validation and manufacturing transfer
  • Both junior and senior engineers across the design organization

Why This Role Is Compelling

  • Direct ownership of critical RF designs that define product performance
  • Opportunity to solve complex RF challenges under real‑world constraints
  • High autonomy and technical influence in a fast‑growing robotics and defense technology company
  • Exposure to advanced wireless technologies and real production hardware—not just prototypes
