About the Team:

McCloskey by OPIS provides integrated offerings of market intelligence, price indexes and forecasting. Energy transition relies on a mineral-intensive process, and it is essential to understand the dynamics shaping thermal and metallurgical coal, iron ore, scrap, steel and base metals markets, globally and in key regions across Australia, Africa, India, China, Europe and the Americas.

About the Role:

Fundamentals analyst covering the steel and steel raw materials markets (steel, iron ore, ferrous scrap, metallurgical coal, manganese ore, and other raw materials)

You Will:

  • Maintain and continually refine monthly supply and demand balance sheets and price forecasts for a range of iron ore, ferrous scrap, and steel products.

  • Maintain and/or contribute to monthly and weekly deliverables covering steel, iron ore, ferrous scrap and other metals markets, as well as bespoke consulting engagements.

  • Be a leader in APAC on Steel and Steel Raw Materials, doing everything from conference presentations to client presentations and fielding customer queries

You Have:

  • At least 2 to 4 years of experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries and/or markets.

  • Strong quantitative skills (strong MS Excel and VBA, knowledge of Python and PowerBI advantageous)

  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to a high standard.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work within a team while sometimes operating alone

  • Bachelor’s degree (in in a quantitative discipline preferred)
