Under minimal supervision, the Product/Service Specialist is responsible for selling complex technical products and/or services. Typically specializes in a limited number of products and/or services that are considered highly specialized and strategic in nature.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with Account Managers or Outside Sales team as opportunities are limited to close the sale.
- Develops and presents sales proposals, systems solutions and close complex technical sales opportunities as needed.
- Develops and maintains a highly technical knowledge of UL's products and services and is able to communicate value proposition to clients effectively.
- Supports junior staff with complex details of UL's products and services. Helps to develop and expand their understanding of UL's products and services.
- Identifies and resolves wide range of issues with little or no supervision.
- Coaches and mentors lower level staff on effective direct sales skills and sales processes.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in an Engineering field or a related discipline plus generally eight years of directly related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of company policies and sales processes.
- Requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules to senior level management and customers.
- Recognized as a product or service subject matter expert by peers, customers, and industry leaders.
- Significant business travel and work outside of the office is required.
