The primary role of Product Development Management team is to lead and support the various teams within Product Development function. Key deliverables include, actively engaging, from concept to production, in the design and development of new products and their manufacturing processes.

Evaluating and driving new technologies creating marketplace differentiation to further grow the business. Develop the vision and formulate operational plans aligned with corporate goals and objectives to ensure the long-term future and profitability of ResMed. Formulate budgets and forecasting, continually monitor resource allocation to control expenses, asset manage and meet external reporting requirements. Ensure rigorous documentation and processes are in place to manage risk.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provides strategic and technical leadership of the Prototyping Studios group by developing and executing innovative strategies that accelerate prototype development and improve overall time to market.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, entrepreneurial team driven to deliver world-class prototype solutions within business constraints, demonstrating ownership, accountability, and technical excellence.

  • Responsible for leading global teams of toolmakers and prototyping engineers across multiple sites, with a focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment to ResMed’s innovation goals.

  • Broad influence on department and business strategy through championing new prototyping capabilities and entrepreneurial approaches.

Results

  • Drives prototyping solutions with technical rigour and an entrepreneurial mindset, ensuring impact at both team and department levels.

  • Ensure that design teams across all business units can realise prototypes efficiently, on time, and in compliance with ResMed’s Design Process.

  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge rapid tooling technologies as well as traditional fabrication solutions, applying entrepreneurial judgement to select the best approach for each project.

  • Explore and establish new methods for prototype development, whether through internal capabilities or external partnerships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, scalability, and quality.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Teams to provide a seamless transition from prototype to mass production, ensuring designs are scalable, manufacturable, and production-ready.

  • Accountable for efficiency, capability growth, and best practices within the department. Drive operational excellence and sponsor continuous process improvements in product development.

People & Culture

  • Showcase excellence in coaching and regular feedback to ensure team members grow, develop, and achieve their potential.

  • Accountable for cultivating a strong, innovative, and entrepreneurial team culture across global sites. Create safety and trust within the team, learn from failures, celebrate diversity of thought, and share best practices across locations.

  • Provide technical leadership of prototyping solutions by aligning the contributions of distributed teams and ensuring that learnings are shared globally.

  • Actively develop self, whilst mentoring, coaching, and collaborating across teams, departments, and geographies.

Management Practice

  • Strong contribution to department strategy, resource and financial planning, with a focus on building scalable, entrepreneurial prototyping solutions that deliver business impact.

  • Apply business acumen and entrepreneurial thinking to inform prototype strategy, balancing innovation with commercial and operational considerations.

  • Build and maintain a strong network of external toolmakers, fabricators, and prototyping partners to expand the organisation’s prototyping capabilities.

  • Communicate proactively with peers and stakeholders across global business units to report on progress, remove roadblocks, and align strategies.

  • Ensure the implementation of the health and safety management system within areas of responsibility, and monitor the health and safety performance of direct reports.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to lead across global and cross-cultural teams.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify, explore, and implement new prototyping solutions and partnerships.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong cross-functional and external partnerships that  deliver value to the overall business.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with Manufacturing Teams to ensure prototypes are designed with manufacturability in mind and transition seamlessly into production.

  • Ability to develop people through strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.

  • Excellent prototyping and design engineering skills, with a deep knowledge of both rapid tooling and traditional fabrication solutions· Highly adaptable to meet the changing needs of a global business environment.

  • Able to operate and prioritise in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
