The Role: We are seeking an exceptionally talented engineer to join our team and work on WorldQuant's next-generation distributed post trade processing system that provides a real-time view into the firm's trades, positions, PNL and risk. Our system needs to process massive volumes of trade and market data in a latency sensitive manner with correctness, consistency and reliability in mind. We work in an agile environment, and participate in all aspects of SDE life-cycle from design, development, testing to deployment and support. As an engineer, you have a chance to work on various parts of this system, and get a first-hand working knowledge of how a trade moves from execution to settlement. Our system is continually evolving in terms of both scale as well as new business features.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong working experience as a Java developer
- Solid understanding of streaming applications development
- Experience with Testing Frameworks
- Strong database experience - particularly with MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Ability to capture and understand requirements by working through and understanding how legacy code base (Perl/python) works in order to assess its limitations and build improved solutions
- Ability to prioritize complex operational issues during on-call support rotation
- Strong communication skills to work with development and the business teams
- Experience in Perl would be helpful. At a minimum, the ability to read and debug Perl code is required. Basic familiarity is acceptable if you can understand the processes. Writing new Perl code is not expected
- Experience in Python (basic support scripts for Java processes: light scripting, server startup, and process automation) is a plus
- Experience in Finance/Operations/SecMaster experience is a plus
