This is an APAC based role.

You will be travelling 4-6 times/year for a week mostly to the Philippines, sometimes to the US.

The opportunity

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a fully remote, distributed team focused on Cashalo, our product in the Philippines. You'll lead around 10 direct reports, with a broader team of 15-20 for project-aligned leadership. The team will span across backend, web and mobile engineering.

You'll play a key role in shaping Cashalo's engineering excellence - balancing startup agility with the rigour of operating within a larger organisation. You'll drive delivery performance and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead and mentor engineers across multiple disciplines and levels (we generally have a very senior team).

  • In partnership with the leadership team, develop and communicate OKR's ensuring alignment with broader company goals.

  • Hire and grow top-tier talent.

  • Coordinate indicident response and drive continuous improvement in operational reliability.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and represent engineering in the Cashalo leadership team.

  • Dive improvements in delivery processes without over-engineering them, adapting as the team scales.

Why you're a great fit

  • Proven leadership experience where you've led teams for at least 5-6 years.

  • Hands-on technical grounding, ideally with a background in backend or mobile engineering.

  • Past experience as a technical engineering leader in a Lead+ Engineer role.

  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams from early career through to Staff/Principal Engineers.

  • Experience driving delivery process improvements, and leading high-impact technical initiatives around quality, scale and performance.

  • Ability to balance startup speed with enterprise discipline - thriving in an evolving, fast-paced environment.

  • Experience managing and coordinating responses to SEV1 incidents.
