We are seeking a highly accomplished and strategically-minded Senior Director of Revenue to lead our revenue accounting and operations functions. This critical role will bridge the gap between technical accounting expertise and operational excellence, ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant revenue recognition in a rapidly evolving business environment. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of deep operational acumen, strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in revenue recognition (ASC 606), and a proven track record of driving process improvements and system implementations.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence
Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Revenue accounting and operations function, aligning with overall company goals and financial objectives
Lead and optimize end-to-end revenue processes, from contract inception through revenue recognition, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and adherence to internal controls
Identify and implement best practices in revenue operations, leveraging technology and automation to enhance productivity and accuracy
Drive cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Sales Ops, Deal Desk, Legal Finance, and IT to streamline workflows and improve the customer experience related to revenue
Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of revenue-related systems and tools (e.g., ERP, CPQ, and revenue recognition engines)
Technical Accounting Expertise & Advisory
Serve as a subject matter expert on technical revenue accounting matters (ASC 606), providing guidance and interpretation for complex contracts and new business models
Partner with the Technical Accounting team on the assessment and documentation of accounting positions for non-routine transactions
Lead the operationalization of new accounting standards and complex revenue arrangements, ensuring accurate system configuration and process flows
Develop and maintain robust internal controls over revenue recognition processes to ensure SOX compliance
Stay abreast of emerging accounting pronouncements and industry trends impacting revenue recognition
Team Leadership & Development
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of revenue accounting and operations professionals
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth within the team
Provide strong leadership and guidance, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment
Analysis & Reporting
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely revenue-related financial reports and disclosures
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for revenue operations, identifying areas for improvement and driving data-driven decision-making
Provide insightful analysis to support strategic business decisions and financial planning
Audit Management
Act as a primary liaison with external auditors for revenue-related audit requests, providing comprehensive documentation and explanations
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - CPA is highly preferred
12+ years of progressive experience in revenue operations and/or accounting, with a significant focus on revenue recognition under ASC 606
8+ years direct people management experience preferred, including leading of Directors and Managers
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm, with a strong emphasis on accounting advisory or technical accounting roles
Experience in a software or SaaS company strongly preferred, ideally in a high-growth environment
Demonstrated experience in leading significant operational transformations and system implementations within the revenue cycle
Deep understanding of enterprise-level financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and revenue automation tools (e.g. Alteryx)
Proven ability to interpret and apply complex accounting guidance to real-world business scenarios
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization
Proactive, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
Up to 15% travel for corporate and internal meetings
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $185,000.00 - $296,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
