- Deliver at least one meaningful improvement that reduces production database risk, improves recovery confidence, or removes a recurring operational issue.
- Create an initial database reliability and data platform improvement plan aligned with GEO priorities and engineering capacity.
What This Role Does Not Own:
This role does not own business prioritization or business requirements. Product / Delivery Managers and business stakeholders remain responsible for intake, priority alignment, UAT coordination, and business acceptance.
This role does not own application architecture for product groups. Product Group Team Leads / Architects remain responsible for application-level technical design, with DBA partnership on data design and database impact.
This role does not replace Infrastructure & Security ownership for servers, storage, network, identity, security operations, and physical / virtual infrastructure. It must work closely with Infrastructure & Security where database reliability depends on infrastructure.
This role does not independently approve production releases. It provides database readiness input, risk assessment, migration validation, and rollback guidance as part of the release process.
This role should not turn data platform work into a separate analytics-only function at the expense of production database reliability. Production reliability remains the first priority.
