Sourceability® is a global digital distributor of electronic components transforming how modern businesses bring products to market. With innovation, quality and logistics as the backbone of the company, Sourceability’s cutting-edge products and services expedite the procurement process across a wide range of industries, including communications/cellular, consumer electronics, and auto manufacturing.

Sourceability is building a new Global Engineering Organization (GEO) to strengthen internal software delivery, improve production ownership, and build long-term engineering capability inside the company.

We are looking for a Senior DBA / Data Platform Engineer to own and improve the reliability, performance, recoverability, and operational quality of Sourceability's database and data platform environments. This role will focus primarily on SQL Server-backed business-critical systems, including production stability, high availability, disaster recovery, backup / recovery, performance tuning, schema review, and support for engineering teams.

This is a hands-on technical role inside the Platform, DevOps & Data function. The Senior DBA / Data Platform Engineer will work closely with Software Engineering, Product Group Team Leads / Architects, DevOps / Platform, Infrastructure & Security, QA, Product / Delivery, and business stakeholders to reduce database-related production risk and improve delivery reliability.

This role is not only a generic data engineering or analytics platform role. Data pipelines, reporting feeds, and data platform support are important, but the first priority is reliable operation of current production databases and safe support for software delivery.

This role is hybrid from our Singapore office.

Insight on Your Impact:

  • Own day-to-day technical operation, reliability, performance, and recoverability of assigned SQL Server and related database environments.
  • Support production, QA, UAT, staging, and development database environments used by Sourceability's business-critical applications.
  • Maintain and improve database backup, restore, recovery validation, retention, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery designs, including SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, replication, failover readiness, and RPO / RTO expectations where applicable.
  • Monitor database health, performance, storage, jobs, blocking, deadlocks, replication, HA status, and backup completion.
  • Diagnose and resolve database performance issues, including slow queries, execution plans, indexing, statistics, locking, blocking, tempdb pressure, and resource contention.
  • Review schema changes, stored procedures, indexes, data access patterns, and query designs with software engineering teams before production deployment.
  • Partner with Product Group Team Leads / Architects and software engineers to improve database design, data access reliability, and maintainability.
  • Support release readiness by validating database scripts, migration plans, rollback procedures, deployment dependencies, and production impact.
  • Participate in L2 / L3 escalation for database-related production issues, urgent defects, data integrity concerns, and business-impacting incidents.
  • Lead or contribute to root cause analysis for database-related incidents and define practical remediation actions.
  • Identify database technical debt, single points of failure, fragile jobs, undocumented dependencies, and operational risks.
  • Create and maintain practical documentation for database architecture, maintenance jobs, backup / recovery procedures, HA / DR processes, troubleshooting steps, and operational runbooks.
  • Support ETL / ELT, integrations, reporting data feeds, analytics extracts, and internal data platform needs while protecting production database stability.
  • Help improve monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and operational visibility for database and data platform environments.
  • Ensure DBA and data platform work is tracked and communicated through agreed tools and processes, including Azure DevOps where applicable.

Your Qualifications, Your Influence:

  • 5+ years of experience as a DBA, database engineer, data platform engineer, or similar hands-on production database role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server performance tuning, execution plans, indexing, statistics, query optimization, locking, blocking, deadlocks, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with backup, restore, recovery testing, disaster recovery, and high availability in business-critical environments.
  • Experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, replication, log shipping, clustering, or similar HA / DR technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting production incidents, urgent defect investigations, root cause analysis, and post-incident remediation.
  • Ability to review schema changes, stored procedures, database migrations, query patterns, and data access designs with software engineering teams.
  • Experience working with development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, security, product, and business teams during software delivery and production support.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, access control, database security, permission management, and operational controls.
  • Practical experience with ETL / ELT, reporting feeds, SSIS, scheduled jobs, data exports, or data integration processes.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, Git, or similar tools for work tracking, change review, documentation, or delivery coordination.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing complex database and data issues.
  • Clear communication skills with ability to explain database risk, recovery options, performance issues, and delivery impact to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High ownership mindset, good judgment, and ability to make practical decisions under pressure.

Preferred Skills and Technical Familiarity:

  • Experience with SQL Server Enterprise features, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, failover testing, backup compression, partitioning, Query Store, Extended Events, and performance monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Windows Server, IIS-backed applications, Active Directory-integrated access models, and Microsoft-based enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instance, AWS RDS for SQL Server, or other cloud-hosted database services.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or other database platforms is helpful but secondary to SQL Server expertise.
  • Experience with data pipeline tooling such as SSIS, Airflow, dbt, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting data warehousing, analytics platforms, Power BI feeds, reporting databases, operational data stores, or integration databases.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, Datadog, SolarWinds, SQL Sentry, Redgate, or similar.
  • Experience in electronic components, technology distribution, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, e-commerce, or similar B2B environments.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, retention, privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience improving database operational maturity in an organization where process, ownership, and documentation are still developing.

Success in the First 90 Days:

  • Understand Sourceability's key database environments, production systems, data flows, HA / DR design, backup processes, monitoring coverage, and major database-related risks.
  • Establish working relationships with Platform, DevOps & Data leadership, Software Engineering, Product Group Team Leads / Architects, DevOps, Infrastructure & Security, QA, Product / Delivery, and business stakeholders.
  • Review current backup / restore processes and identify gaps in recovery validation, retention, documentation, and ownership.
  • Review current SQL Server HA / DR posture, failover readiness, RPO / RTO risks, monitoring gaps, and single points of failure.
  • Identify the most important database performance, stability, technical debt, and maintainability risks.
  • Improve visibility into database health, backups, jobs, storage, performance, HA status, and production alerts.
  • Establish or improve practical processes for database change review, release readiness, migration validation, and rollback planning.
  • Document critical operational procedures, troubleshooting steps, ownership boundaries, and escalation paths.
  • Deliver at least one meaningful improvement that reduces production database risk, improves recovery confidence, or removes a recurring operational issue.
  • Create an initial database reliability and data platform improvement plan aligned with GEO priorities and engineering capacity.

What This Role Does Not Own:

This role does not own business prioritization or business requirements. Product / Delivery Managers and business stakeholders remain responsible for intake, priority alignment, UAT coordination, and business acceptance.

This role does not own application architecture for product groups. Product Group Team Leads / Architects remain responsible for application-level technical design, with DBA partnership on data design and database impact.

This role does not replace Infrastructure & Security ownership for servers, storage, network, identity, security operations, and physical / virtual infrastructure. It must work closely with Infrastructure & Security where database reliability depends on infrastructure.

This role does not independently approve production releases. It provides database readiness input, risk assessment, migration validation, and rollback guidance as part of the release process.

This role should not turn data platform work into a separate analytics-only function at the expense of production database reliability. Production reliability remains the first priority.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Collaborative global work environment
