Role Overview
Android streaming player engineers contribute to the product development on Android platforms such as Android Phone and Android TV. We are looking for individuals who will improve the development of Coupang Play’s streaming player to provide users with the best streaming experiences.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement video playback features and improve the quality of streaming, such as latency and error rate.
- Work cross-functionally with the encoding and product teams to provide users with the best streaming quality and user experiences.
- Analyze the playback performance in the field, identify areas for enhancement, lead initiatives to address those areas, and implement the improvements.
- Monitor real-time streaming metrics at the high-profile live streaming events, and give technical guidance to live operation teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of coding experience with Android; proficiency in Java and Kotlin.
- Experience with architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI.
- Experience with SDK development or building large-scale apps using open-source.
- Experience with streaming technologies (DASH and HLS), DRM (Widevine), and video player frameworks (ExoPlayer).
- Ability to design scalable architecture, to write clean, testable, efficient code, and to measure performance.
- Experience with instrumentation, unit testing, and excellent documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with streaming quality metrics (QOE), A/B testing, and metrics analysis.
- Experience with media codecs (AAC, AVC, HEVC or AV1).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
