What Cloud Engineering Contributes to Cardinal Health
- Working knowledge of server hardware, software, operating systems, platform configuration, virtual technologies, cloud technologies, networking/distributed computing environments, backup and storage systems, and systems management tools.
- Participates in scripting, process design, and automation for the administrative functions of the cloud engineering team.
- Maintains existing infrastructure through proactive patching of firmware and operating systems.
- Maintains a stable production environment in the Cardinal Health IT environment. This includes various operating systems in virtual, physical, and cloud environments. Maintains backup and disaster recovery sites and storage environment for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Gathers requirements, designs, and deploys infrastructure solutions to meet business needs. This includes physical, virtual, and cloud server deployments
Accountabilities in this role
The Senior Analyst – Cloud Engineering has shared responsibility for a 24x7 support system for all severity of incident management, problem management, change management, and projects for the Cloud and on-premises environment IT Infrastructure of Cardinal Health.
- Monitor Storage capacity for physical, virtual, and cloud storage devices
- Administer Backup Systems for physical, virtual, and cloud servers
- Support of system utility software, applications, documentation, third-party software, and compliance.
- Applies comprehensive understanding of concepts within own technical area to design relatively advanced solutions; demonstrates understanding of key business drivers.
- Services clients in problem resolution and processing service requests
- Performance monitoring, system tuning, and capacity planning experience
- Raise and respond to multiple Change Management and Incident tickets appropriately
- Ability to troubleshoot issues independently
- Collaborates with clients, business partners, and transaction center(s) to deliver services
- Work with Vendors to understand and resolve complex issues
- Operating System software, utility software, and day-to-day support for Linux Systems and Microsoft Systems
Technical Skills Required
- Strong Knowledge of Storage and Backup Administration
- Knowledge of Linux System Administration.
- Knowledge of Windows System Administration
- Knowledge of Virtualization technologies
- Knowledge of Cloud Technologies
- Working understanding of networking technologies as they relate to servers
Other Technical Skills Preferred
- Scripting languages, including shell, Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years’ experience in related field preferred
- Applicable technical certifications preferred
