You will draft and negotiate key contracts, advise on product offerings, and help manage legal risks for institutional clients. Job responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to the APAC Securities Services business
- Draft and negotiate global custody, fund services, collateral management, and securities lending agreements
- Advise management and internal stakeholders on legal matters related to Securities Services products
- Lead or participate in regional and global legal initiatives, including product and market expansion
- Conduct legal due diligence and develop contract templates
- Instruct and collaborate with external counsel, managing legal costs effectively
- Assist with regulatory enquiries, investigations, and disputes
- Identify and escalate relevant legal issues to stakeholders proactively
- Manage and control legal risks constructively
- Build rapport and collaborate with internal stakeholders across jurisdictions
- Communicate legal issues clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Qualified lawyer with 4+ years of legal experience
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal analytical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage workflow in a multi-jurisdictional environment
- Collaborative mindset and ability to build relationships
- Proactive approach to issue identification and escalation
- Adaptability to apply legal skills in new contexts
- Ability to manage legal risks constructively
- Compliance with relevant licensing requirements for the jurisdiction
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience at a top-tier law firm and in-house within financial services
- Expertise in custody, fund administration, securities lending, and collateral management
- Strong knowledge of global custody and securities-related services
- Proven ability to manage legal matters for institutional clients
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and dispute resolution processes
- Track record of supporting product launches and market expansions
- Fluent in written and spoken Chinese
