Central Finance Expert

  • Description SAP Central Finance professional to support a complex, global transformation to SAP S/4HANA. The consultant will lead and coordinate the Central Finance and Finance Transformation stream, operating in a high-pressure, global environment, ensuring harmonized financial processes, real-time reporting, and financial data integrity across multiple source systems.
  • This role requires deep functional expertise in SAP FI/CO and S/4HANA Central Finance, combined with strong technical understanding of the SAP platform. The consultant will be responsible for defining high-quality functional specifications, assessing SAP Notes and Finance-related simplification items, and collaborating closely with ABAP, integration, and data teams.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of S/4HANA extensibility and Clean Core principles, including released APIs, standard Finance enhancement frameworks, and side-by-side extensions, ensuring that all Finance solutions remain upgrade-safe, compliant, and scalable in a global S/4HANA landscap

Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 4+ years in the Central Finanxe
  • Proven Track Record: At least 2 full-lifecycle central finance implementations
  • Deep experience in Financial Accounting and Controlling, including GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profitability Analysis, and Financial Close.
  • Experience with Finance harmonization, chart of accounts standardization, controlling model alignment, and real-time reporting across multiple entities.
  • Strong understanding of Finance integrations, data replication, and system interoperability (SLT, BTP, CPI).
  • Languages English (C1-C2), Spanish (Native) Home-office Hybrid

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT management or related field.
  • Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial and project delivery management.
  • Global Mindset: Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones and cultures.
  • Resilience: A proven ability to remain composed and decisive under extreme project pressure.
  • Collaboration: A "team-first" mentality with the ability to break down silos between functional and technical workstreams. 

1. Central Finance Leadership: Lead the end-to-end implementation or migration of SAP S/4HANA Central Finance, ensuring SAP Best Practice adoption and harmonized financial processes.

2. Finance Harmonization: Drive standardization of chart of accounts, controlling structures, and financial master data across source systems.

3. Team Orchestration: Coordinate Finance functional teams and cross-functional technical teams ensuring data replication, reconciliation, and reporting accuracy.

4. Stakeholder Management: Act as a key interface with global Finance leadership, CFO organization, and local finance teams.

5. Landscape Complexity: Manage multi-system and multi-ledger environments, ensuring consistency between Central Finance and source ERPs.

6. Performance Under Pressure: Maintain delivery momentum and financial data integrity within tight deadlines and high governance standard

Technical Competences
1. S/4HANA Finance & Central Finance Architecture

a. Lead the transition from ECC-based Finance to S/4HANA Finance and Central Finance, enabling real-time financial processing and reporting.
b. Strong understanding of Universal Journal (ACDOCA) and its impact on FI and CO integration.
c. Expertise in CDS Views and S/4HANA Embedded Analytics for Finance, enabling real-time financial statements, management reporting, and profitability analysis.
d. Ability to drive adoption of SAP Fiori Finance apps, ensuring role-based access, compliance, and improved user experience.

2. Migration & Data Replication Strategy

a. Deep expertise in Central Finance data replication using SLT, including FI documents, CO postings, and master data.
b. Definition of Finance test strategies (SIT, UAT, Regression, Integration, Financial Reconciliation).
c. Strong understanding of Finance data migration, including open items, balances, and historical data considerations.
d. Mastery of the S/4HANA Simplification Item Catalog for Finance-related impacts (Business Partner, Asset Accounting, New GL).

3. Integration & Extensibility (Clean Core)

a. Ownership of Finance integrations under Clean Core principles, governing integration between Central Finance and source systems using APIs, IDocs, and event-based integration.
b. SAP BTP knowledge for side-by-side Finance extensions, custom analytics, and regulatory reporting.
c. SAP Integration Suite / CPI understanding for real-time and batch financial data replication.
d. Continued mastery of classic integration mechanisms (ALE/IDoc, RFC, BAPIs) where required.

4. 4. Landscape, Controls & Governance

a. Understanding of transport and change governance in regulated Finance environments.
b. Strong focus on data consistency, reconciliation, auditability, and financial controls.
c. Ability to collaborate with security teams on authorizations, segregation of duties (SoD), and compliance.

Work Conditions:

  • Overtime may be required in meeting critical issues, deadlines and SLA’s
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, meetings and project/rollout activities
  • Travel will be required for the purpose of meeting with client, stakeholders, and/or off-site project activities and meetings Tools & Methodologies:

  • SAP Readiness Check 2.0 and Simplification Item Catalog
  • Strong proficiency with SAP S/4HANA Finance and Central Finance tools, including SLT, Embedded Analytics, and Fiori Apps
  • Solid understanding of SAP HANA architecture and SAP BTP for Finance extensions and analytic.
