Job Description

We’re looking for Sanctions Analysts to join our growing Sanctions Screening team either in Tokyo/Kuala Lumpur/Singapore. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a Sanctions expert and help Wise stay compliant with Sanctions Regulations. If you enjoy analysing information, working with constant changes and have an eye for detail this job is for you. 

Your mission: 

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the world’s first platform to offer true multi-currency banking. Your mission is to protect customers and Wise by assessing whether alerts raised by our sanctions screening systems raise any sanctions concerns.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Sanctions Screening team: 

  • Follow operational procedures on sanctions alert handling for all alert types, including documenting the decision rationale. Speed and accuracy of decision making is essential.
  • Perform analysis of potential matches against sanctions lists alerted through sanctions screening of customers and transactions
  • Escalate alerts that may raise any potential reporting requirements
  • Communicate with customers when further information is required as part of reviewing against sanctions lists
  • Provide inputs in order to refine automated sanctions screening risk methodology, reduce false positives, mitigate sanctions risks and improve customer experience

Qualifications

About you: 

  • You’re eligible to work in Tokyo/Kuala Lumpur/Singapore;
  • You’re flexible with working hours - your shifts will include weekends, public holidays/bank holidays and afternoons
  • Your verbal and written English and Japanese(Native preferably) skills are excellent. 
  • If you are located in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, you are required to have N2 or N1 Japanese-Language Proficiency Test Certificate
  • If you are located in Japan, you must be able to contact Botsui Center to make appointments and physically walk into Botsui center whenever required. 
  • You have an exceptionally inquisitive mind. You are always looking out for more information where available, however, you are able to cut through the noise;
  • You have a great eye for detail. You are meticulous and can look at information with factual precision;
  • You have exceptional logical thinking. You are naturally able to interpret data and draw logical conclusions;
  • You have great communication skills, both written and verbal. You are able to express your thoughts concisely and logically; you’re able to communicate in a cross-team environment;
  • You’re able to articulate and justify your decisions. You are confident and comfortable making independent judgement calls;
  • You’re able to work under pressure. You can multitask efficiently and take responsibility in challenging situations;
  • You’re punctual, independent, proactive and curious to learn;
  • You’re a true team player but happy working alone on independent projects;
  • You’re open to and value feedback in order to improve;
  • Previous experience or knowledge about Sanctions is beneficial.

  • Starting salary: MYR 67,200 per annum
