The purpose of this role is to support the Chief Underwriting Office in driving the technical underwriting agenda and priorities by providing independent underwriting oversight and ensuring consistent application of underwriting excellence, product governance, underwriting reviews and regulatory compliance.

The Opportunity:

  • Peer review large, complex and/or non-standard risks across various product lines.
  • Drive operational efficiency and maintain technical excellence in the underwriting referral process.
  • Act as a technical expert to identify risks and opportunities across product lines.

Your New Role:

    • Support the underwriting authority approval process.
    • Input and oversight to the annual risk appetite review, underwriting guidelines and controls review and underwriting planning process.
    • Review and support the RDS process in collaboration with Reinsurance and Cat Modelling.
    • Promote best underwriting practices and provide training and coaching to improve team members' knowledge and capabilities.
    • Maintain awareness of market conditions for informed underwriting decisions.

    About You:

    • Strong understanding of the main underwriting aspects across product lines
    • Experience in market underwriting.
    • Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Strategic mindset with a future-focused approach.
    • Ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Experience in multiple discipline underwriting and managing/collaborating with multiple territories’ underwriting teams
    • Proficient in drafting contracts
    • Experience in designing and delivering underwriting technical training

    Qualifications:

    • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
    • Insurance certification e.g. CII or related professional certification.
