The Quality Engineer will develop quality control plans, conduct audits, implement inspection protocols, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high quality of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
The Quality Engineer will ensure the quality of semiconductor front-end equipment manufactured by the company, focusing on precision, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Duties include creating the company's quality standards and testing systems to reflect efficiency, reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
Quality Planning:
- Develop and maintain quality control plans, procedures, and standards for equipment manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics and Supply Chain) to identify and mitigate quality risks.
- Establish quality objectives and metrics (e.g., defect rate, yield, throughput).
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, SEMI S2).
- Monitor production processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze data to identify trends and root causes of quality issues.
Quality Control:
- Develop and implement inspection protocols for equipment and components.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., SEMI, CE, UL).
- Conduct training for production staff on quality procedures.
Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement:
- Investigate and resolve quality issues using tools like 8D, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis.
- Implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Industry-Specific Requirements:
- Familiarity with semiconductor industry standards (SEMI, ISO 14644).
- Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and contamination control.
- Understanding of equipment reliability and maintainability.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain quality records and documentation (e.g., Device Master Records).
- Prepare and submit quality reports to management.
- Communicate quality performance to stakeholders.
Collaboration and Training:
- Work with design engineers to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for reliability (DFR).
- Collaborate with supplier quality engineers and suppliers to ensure quality of incoming components.
- Provide training on quality procedures and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Quality Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering or a related field in the semiconductor industry.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.
- Experience with front-end equipment manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles (e.g., ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, AGILE).
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings is required.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Possess good communication, meticulous and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work as a team, as well as independently.
