Facilitate prevention-focused group services for children ages 7–12, manage interns and volunteers, engage families and community partners, maintain service records, coordinate activities and logistics, oversee program operations, and support intern performance and deliverables.
Job Description:
Under the supervision of an experienced Child Psychologist and alongside Team Leaders at Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre, the Program Coordinator will develop and execute cutting-edge, holistic group services using a wraparound community mental health model for children between ages of 7-12 years, at risk for later life social maladjustments, e.g. imprisonment, self-harm/suicide, drug/substance abuse, interpersonal challenges, etc. This upstream primary prevention program supports children in developing healthy life skills and adaptive coping skills to achieve their full potential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Run 1 Kidz Hideout (KH) group as a lead facilitator and assist in running a second group cohort (Each group comprise of children between the ages of 7-12 years old. Each group meets twice weekly.)
- Manage junior facilitator teams of university interns and adult volunteers
- Provide administrative and logistical support for KH related activities
- Participate in and engage interns in regular pre- and post- group session briefings
- Engage with parents, partner organizations and service providers of children on a regular and as needed basis
- Oversee, maintain and regularly review post session group, family, partner organisations and allied child services notes
- Manage KH spaces, program inventory, ensuring all materials, resources, and environments are organised, safe and ready to support weekly sessions.
- Co-curate, plan and execute KH activities aligned with KH’s philosophy and goals
- Interview, screen, evaluate and provide regular individual reviews and 6 monthly-performance reports to KHIP interns
- Co-monitor KHIP internship project deliverables
- Liaise with procurement and finance executives on billing and financial matters.
- Jointly oversee and execute operational workflow of both KH and KHIP programs
- Keep Chief of Psychological Services informed and updated of operations, reminders and schedules relating to KH and KHIP
- Undertake additional roles and responsibilities, assigned by management.
Applicant requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any field from accredited program - Psychology, Social Work or related fields, preferred
- 1-2 years of work experience in programme management, community engagement, or any other relevant work/ 1-2 years of work experience in client-facing roles, programme management, community engagement, or any other relevant work
- Possess strong interest, ease and ability in effectively engaging children and families, have experience and enjoy interacting with children, their families, teachers and community partners, comfortable with handling challenging presenting behaviours
- Potential candidates must possess emotional maturity, self-awareness, composure and presence even in challenging situations, be emotionally healthy and be able to cope with the demands of the role
- Possess the ability to interact effectively with young adult co-leaders and work in team settings
- Must be prepared and open to learning new skills relevant to working with children, i.e. behaviour management and effective communication skills, etc.
- Possess good observational skills, attention to detail, creativity & analysis skills
- Capacity for independent work with minimal supervision, self-starter
- Proficient in verbal and written communication
- Able to commit to evening hours and some regular weekend hours
