The Digital Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design and construction of new and expansion Data Centers.  The position requires a high dependency on Telecom principles for execution, and extensive collaboration with the Network, Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural disciplines, with construction projects spanning across Retail, Hyperscale, and Hybrid data center designs.  Other responsibilities include financial planning and reporting; vendor management; real estate evaluation; contract negotiations; bid analysis; legal assessments; and business development.

Key responsibilities:

Project Management, Skills, & Leadership

  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of CapEx budgets.  Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors, and summarizes progress of projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks.
  • Facilitates projects by conducting meetings, recording meeting minutes/action items, and performing complete and thorough follow-up.
  • Oversees and approves Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Order tracking process, and ensures orders are processed in accordance with Equinix’s service and operational standards to facilitate data integrity and invoice accuracy.
  • Maintains budget accountability for CapEx construction projects.  Works with Commercial Management to capture all phases of budget forecasts.
  • Ability to work with outside suppliers to understand and negotiate leases or private construction for bulk dark fiber construction projects.
  • Research and analyze data to evaluate operational difficulties and approve/authorize actions needed to solve problems.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and monitors issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity.

Qualifications, key skills and attributes:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Business Information Systems, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • BICSI RCDD certification preferred.
  • AutoCad design skills strongly preferred.
  • Network Design experience delivering Network Systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), Data Center Operating Systems (DCOS), Security, and Customer-facing platforms required.
  • PMP Certification preferred (Project Management Professional)
  • Extensive knowledge of Telecommunications and Internet technologies and systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of inside plant /outside plant fiber optic cabling and optical components such as DWDM, amplifiers and DCM.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications:  Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent written and spoken interpersonal communication skills.
