Lead the Identity team in designing crucial seller identity experiences, enhance compliance processes, and leverage AI for improved automation while aligning with business goals.
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
The Identity team is looking for a Product Design Director to lead a team on a dynamic mix of product and platform challenges that are vital to the future of Square. The Square Identity team plays a foundational role in the Square ecosystem by scaling trust, compliance, and growth across an increasingly complex network of sellers.
As Design Director, you'll work with cross-functional leadership and designers across the company to deliver best-in-class experiences across the most critical aspects of seller identity-how sellers update legal information, transfer ownership, manage permissions, and stay compliant over time. You'll play a key role in shaping experiences that make identity updates faster, safer, and more equitable, while also exploring AI-powered tools that increase automation, reduce friction, and improve transparency. Your work will empower sellers to maintain a secure, compliant presence on Square, while supporting the platform's expansion across new products, geographies, and business types.
We know we can't build remarkable products without compelling design processes and visions; that's where you come in. You will provide guidance of your team's output, facilitate the design process, and ensure product execution to promote an outstanding design practice. You will facilitate partnerships, manage stakeholders, and influence the product roadmap to craft and execute a bold multi-year strategy.
You will report to the Head of Design and lead a team of 4-6 product designers.
