We are seeking a technically proficient Polymer Process Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for optimizing compounding processes, ensuring high-quality output for our customized color masterbatches (MB), additive masterbatches, and functional polymer compounds. You will play a critical role in bridging the gap between formulations and large-scale production, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and safety.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Process Optimization: Lead the setup, troubleshooting, and optimization of twin-screw extrusion lines for diverse polymer matrices.
Production Scaling-up: Manage the transition of new formulations from lab-scale pilots to full-scale commercial production.
Processing Guideline Creating: Oversee critical processing parameters and generate processing guidelines for the extrusion process in the plant.
Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve extrusion defects, such as surging, surface irregularities, and color inconsistency.
Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment uptime, including feeder calibration, screw configuration changes, and die maintenance.
Documentation: Maintain precise records of processing parameters (temperature profiles, screw speeds, torque, and pressure) to build a robust knowledge base for repeat batches.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in polymer compounding, specifically with twin-screw extrusion technology.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of polymer rheology, additive incorporation, and pigment dispersion.
Analytical Skills: Proficient in interpreting physical and chemical testing data to drive process improvements.
Soft Skills: Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
