A Brief Overview

The Pricing Actuary supports pricing, modelling, risk analysis and structuring of transactions for the Asia Pacific Financial Solutions business. Working under guidance from senior actuaries, this role focuses on delivering timely, high‑quality actuarial analysis to support new business development and transaction execution across the region.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing pricing, modeling, risk analysis, structuring, execution and other activities related to specific new business development opportunities for the AP Financial Solutions business unit.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and consistent with applicable standards as it relates to the business in Asia.
  • Assess and analyze risk exposure in potential transactions.
  • Review and provide feedback, in a timely manner, the work – including data, assumptions, modelling, sensitivity testing and documentation – of other actuaries as appropriate across all AP Financial Solutions business lines and specifically on projects in the relevant area of responsibility.
  • Participate in ad-hoc department projects as needed.
  • Assist risk management and operations personnel with monitoring experience of in-force treaties.
  • Contribute to the development of new processes or enhancement of existing processes that support the pricing team activities in an even more efficient, effective manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or related field
  • FIA, FSA, FIAJ, Equivalent Certification or expected completion in the next two years
  • 6 or more years of actuarial experience in Life Insurance or Reinsurance
  • Experience with asset-intensive pricing is preferred
  • Experience with actuarial modeling software, preferably with an ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures.

Skills & Attributes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of life insurance, health insurance, longevity, and/or annuity products across the APAC region
  • Technical skills including (but not limited to): spreadsheets (VBA), database applications (Access, SQL or equivalent technology), statistical programs, and one or more computing languages (ex: C/C++/Python)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and clear
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to challenge and enhance our analytical capabilities
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously
  • Knowledge of key financial reporting, accounting, and solvency regimes, including (but not limited to): US GAAP, US Statutory, Bermuda; IFRS; MCEV / EV / EEV; and Solvency II.
  • Exposure to or experience with Product design / pricing experience OR ALM / risk management (requirements vary with job level)
  • Knowledge of Prophet and/or AXIS is preferred
