Responsible for managing and monitoring investment portfolios, developing and implementing investment strategies, working closely with clients and stakeholders to achieve investment objectives, providing expert advice on investment matters and ensuring compliance with regulations and firm policies.

YOUR CHALLENGE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Portfolio Manager (“PM”) is a member of CIO Office (“CIOO”) in Asia, reporting to the Head of CIOO Asia & Middle East Multi-Asset Class Team. The role is required to support the expansion of the CIOO business in Asia, with a focus on growth in the Greater China segment. The PM is accountable for portfolio construction and management of Discretionary Portfolio Management (“DPM”) mandates while partnering with Relationship Managers (“RMs”) to originate and convert client opportunities. He/She will play a key role in delivering ambitious net new flow targets and building a scalable CIOO platform for future growth in Asia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Construct and manage multi-asset portfolios in line with their stated objectives and risk profiles.

  • Develop both strategic and tactical asset allocation for bespoke mandates.

  • Engage directly with clients in Business Mandarin and English, providing investment insights and portfolio updates

  • Partner with RMs to originate and convert DPM opportunities in Greater China.

  • Prepare investment proposals, portfolio reviews and client presentations in both English and Business Mandarin

  • Ensure portfolios comply with mandate guidelines, regulations and internal policies.

Key performance indicators include:

  • Achievement of CIOO net new flow targets and growth in Asia.

  • Portfolio performance and client satisfaction, especially in Greater China.

  • Compliance with risk and operational standards.

Client Management (internal & external)

  • Strong client facing handling and inter-personal skills – demonstrate the ability to establish strong working relationships and the ability to interact effectively with, both internal and external clients or prospects.

  • Stay abreast with general market trends

  • Must be able to articulate complex market insights and portfolio positioning in both fluent written and spoken Business Mandarin

Regulatory Responsibilities &/OR Risk Management

  • Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

YOUR PROFILE

Personal and Social

  • Strong team player with good maturity, excellent inter-personal skills and corporate discipline.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage stress in a dynamic environment.

  • Possess a keen sense of ownership – ability to see assigned tasks to completion with minimal supervision

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Self-driven and collaborative

Professional and Technical

  • 8–15 years in portfolio management, DPM mandates or multi-asset investing.

  • Excellent track record in multi-asset portfolio management and client advisory.

  • Native/near-native Business Mandarin and strong English communication.

  • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

  • Completed the regulatory examinations such as CACS Paper 1 and 2, CMFAS Module 3 and Module 6

  • CFA qualification is an advantage

  • Bloomberg knowledge is a plus.

Regulatory

  • MAS RNF registered representatives to perform the regulated activities in Fund Management

  • CACS 1 and CACS 2

  • Familiar with regulatory expectations and requirements
