Join our Global Tax team in Hong Kong or Singapore as People Tax Manager for APAC. You will lead employment and mobility tax matters across the region while supporting QRT’s global People Tax agenda. Working with HR, Payroll, Finance, Tax and external advisors, you will provide practical guidance on employment taxes, mobility, benefits and incentives as the business grows.

Your future role within QRT includes:

  • Advising on the tax treatment of international assignments, permanent transfers, cross-border remote working and business travel.
  • Evaluating employment tax, permanent establishment and other corporate tax risks associated with internationally mobile employees.
  • Working with external advisors and local teams to meet income tax, payroll withholding and social security obligations across APAC.
  • Managing short-term business visitor and cross-border working compliance, including employer reporting and withholding requirements.
  • Advising on the tax treatment and payroll reporting of employee benefits, allowances, deferred compensation and equity-based incentives.
  • Overseeing tax returns, shadow payroll, tax equalisation and hypothetical tax arrangements where applicable.
  • Partnering with HR, Payroll, Finance and Reward on tax reporting, withholding and gross-up treatment.
  • Monitoring employment tax, mobility and incentive developments across APAC and assessing their impact on QRT.
  • Supporting global People Tax policies and governance, improving processes and automation, and strengthening internal controls.
  • Managing external advisor relationships and coordinating advice across jurisdictions, while supporting wider global People Tax projects.

Your present skillset: 

  • 6+ years’ employment tax and/or global mobility experience gained in a Big 4 or other professional services firm, in-house, or both. Financial services experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of employment and mobility tax in one or more APAC jurisdictions, including cross-border employees, business travellers, benefits and/or incentives.
  • CTA, ADIT, ACA, CPA or an equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • Commercially astute and comfortable navigating complex issues across jurisdictions with a pragmatic, risk-based approach.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain tax issues clearly to non-tax colleagues.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills, a sense of ownership and urgency, and the ability to work independently as part of a global team.
