We are looking for a Payments Legal Counsel, located in Singapore. As a Payments Legal Counsel at Rapyd, you will have an immediate impact in a variety of fields ranging from regulatory expert for business, strategic structuring for customers and new product development support. If you have a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law and a strong drive to understand and support business needs of an innovative company, read on!

The role: 

  • Regulatory compliance support, with deep knowledge of cross-border payments laws(e.g. Singapore Payments Services Act) and experience communicating with regulators (e.g. the Monetary Authority of Singapore). 
  • Review, draft, and negotiate customer agreements that comply with the APAC regulatory requirements.
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret a wide variety of commercial agreements including vendor agreements, marketing, network and partnership agreements, and ensure that all commercial agreements adequately protect the company’s interests.
  • Work with Product on new product regulatory research, development and implementation. 
  • Provide legal support to the APAC General Counsel and wider global legal team and global business.
  • Part of a high energy, fabulous and fast paced global legal team.
  • 3 - 10 years PQE, with experience in the payments sector as an in-house lawyer in a high-tech company or in the commercial/high-tech department of a top-tier law firm.
  • Passion for legal design, legal operations and legal AI.
  • Experience working for or with global companies is a must.
  • Ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure.
  • Excellent legal, business judgment and strategic thinking, team-player with outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Exceptionally strong communication and interpersonal skills across all channels.
  • Strong technical legal skills. 
  • Efficient and creative problem-solver, comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and nuance.
  • Able to take ownership of fast-paced projects with rapidly shifting priorities, managing them through to completion with patience, flexibility, and poise.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently, Chinese language skills is an advantage.
  • Experience in the Hong Kong and Singapore regulations and global payments sector - a must!
  • Previous experience with card schemes (acquiring and issuing), global remittances and networks - a plus!
  • Previous experience in wider APAC payments - a plus!
