Reuters is looking for an accomplished and dynamic news editor to run our video news Output desk in our global news hub in London. This is a great opportunity to join a multi-skilled and passionate team that delivers planned coverage to deadline and handles breaking news. You will have a strong video news background and be a proven leader who possesses excellent communication skills.
You will be responsible for overseeing a daily news file and shaping the day-to-day priorities of a team of staff tasked with delivering fast, accurate and original coverage to our diverse global client base that includes more than 1,000 broadcasters and digital media outlets.
About the role:
As our trusted Output Editor, you will:

Take a lead role in shaping the output of the daily video news file.

Manage the allocation of resources for daily production of news stories. Respond quickly to major breaking news events.

Coordinate with colleagues from text and pictures to deliver multimedia content.

Feedback to staff on issues of quality and story structure.
-
Encourage bureaus and producers to produce personal and digitally friendly stories.

Uphold Reuters editorial standards.

Be digitally fluent and be able to explain audiences' shifting needs.

Work with newsroom leaders to help meet visuals’ strategic objectives, on everything from speed and standards to storytelling.
About You:
To be an Output Editor at Reuters, you will likely have:

Senior editorial experience as a visual journalist or editor.

Exceptional people and management skills, including an ability to motivate staff.

Great news judgment and facility for storytelling across multiple formats.

A strong understanding of our client needs.

Ability to drive speed and accuracy.

Have a clear understanding of the news video needs of major broadcasters and digital clients

Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships quickly.
