Job Summary
The Operational Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs that enhance employee performance and ensure operational excellence. This role supports onboarding, upskilling, and continuous learning initiatives aligned with organizational standards, processes, and performance goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver training programs focused on operational processes, systems, and tools
- Facilitate new hire training, refresher sessions, and continuous learning initiatives
- Assess training needs through performance data, feedback, and business requirements
- Create training materials including manuals, presentations, job aids, and e-learning content
- Monitor trainee progress and evaluate effectiveness of training programs
- Conduct assessments, certifications, and coaching sessions to improve performance
- Partner with operations leaders to identify skill gaps and implement targeted training solutions
- Track training metrics and report on outcomes (e.g., completion rates, competency scores, KPIs)
- Ensure training content is up-to-date with operational policies, compliance requirements, and best practices
- Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years process/operational trainer experience in Optum
- Proven experience in training, facilitation, or learning and development (L&D)
- Solid understanding of operational processes (e.g., BPO, shared services, or relevant industry)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Proven excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Proven solid organizational, time management, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable training plans
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in training or instructional design (e.g., Train-the-Trainer)
- Experience with e-learning tools and content development platforms
- Coaching and mentoring experience
- Familiarity with performance management frameworks and quality standards
