We are seeking a Network Engineer (IoT) - (Public Sector) to serve as the primary technical authority for the design, implementation, integration, and operational management of environmental telemetry and sensor monitoring systems.

The successful candidate will lead end-to-end telemetry deployments, including sensor inventory tracking, device state monitoring, automated calibration management, edge data buffering, and resilient communications across cellular networks.

Key ResponsibilitiesTelemetry & Sensor Systems
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of telemetry and sensor monitoring solutions.
  • Design operational management architecture for sensor inventory tracking.
  • Implement automated calibration offset management.
  • Develop device health and state monitoring capabilities.
  • Integrate environmental monitoring and telemetry platforms.
Device & Platform Integration
  • Develop bidirectional communication between field devices and backend systems.
  • Integrate telemetry platforms such as:
    • Campbell Scientific
    • Vaisala
    • LSI LASTEM
    • Similar environmental monitoring platforms
  • Troubleshoot device communication and telemetry issues.
Edge Computing & Network Resilience
  • Design and implement edge-side buffering mechanisms.
  • Develop store-and-forward strategies for intermittent cellular connectivity.
  • Ensure data integrity during communication outages.
  • Support field deployments and remote telemetry operations.
Protocol & Data Engineering
  • Develop and maintain MQTT-based integrations.
  • Implement open-standard IoT communication protocols.
  • Perform low-level device data parsing and transformation.
  • Handle binary payload decoding and protocol interpretation.
Operations & Support
  • Monitor telemetry infrastructure health and availability.
  • Support incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • Produce technical documentation and implementation artefacts.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, vendors, and project teams throughout the deployment lifecycle.

RequirementsMandatory SkillsExperience
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in network engineering or IoT telemetry work

Programming & Scripting

Strong hands-on experience with one or more of:

  • Python
  • C
  • C++
  • Embedded scripting
Low-Level Data Processing

Experience with:

  • Byte stream parsing
  • Binary payload decoding
  • Bitwise operations
  • Big-Endian / Little-Endian data handling
Edge & Connectivity

Experience implementing:

  • Edge data buffering
  • Store-and-forward mechanisms
  • Cellular communications (3G/4G/5G/LTE)
  • Network resilience strategies
Work Style & Availability
  • Able to work on-site
  • Available for after-hours incident response
Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following will be highly preferred:

    • Campbell Scientific platforms
    • Vaisala systems
    • LSI LASTEM systems
    • Industrial IoT deployments
    • Environmental monitoring projects
    • Smart city sensor networks
    • Remote telemetry infrastructure
    • Government or public sector projects
