Job Description

Strategic leadership

  • Defines the vision for the Analytics, Data and Systems platform for market leading advanced capabilities aligns to the compliance function goals; set a forward looking strategy that positions analytics and insights as a core enabler of proactive, data-driven compliance.
  • Develops and implements the blueprint and plan for building market leading advanced surveillance and analytics capabilities for UOB’s Group Compliance (GC) function, including but not limited to supporting key compliance capabilities in AML, Anti Fraud, Market Conduct, other areas
  • Establishes analytics governance, which will include defining the standards, frameworks and policies for compliance data use, analytics methodologies, and model risk management align to bank and regulatory requirements
  • Acts as the senior advisory expert within GC for compliance data, analytics and system issues escalated by both Line 1 and Line 2 teams
  • Supports the Head of GC (Group Compliance) to strategise, develop, and oversee the implementation of the Compliance Group’s regional data, analytics and systems

Board and Senior Management and Regulatory engagement

  • Represents the Compliance function on all Compliance Analytics, Data and Systems matters at both internal and external forums
  • Supports the Head of GC with regulatory interactions, including with MAS, related to UOB’s surveillance and analytics capabilities
  • Provides clear, actionable insights to Board, Senior Management and regulators
  • Supports the Head of Group Compliance to reports any GC CAI issues/matters that are significant/strategically important to Senior Management or relevant Committees

Management & Operations

  • Oversees the development of UOB’s analytics capabilities within GC to ensure leading techniques are employed and models are designed and constantly adapted to harness the latest advanced analytics best practice
  • Engages with end users of analytics models to gather feedback and leverage expert financial crime / regulatory compliance knowledge in order to refine model capabilities /design
  • Steer and guide teams of specialised data science staff in developing dashboards, rule-based models, machine learning models, as well as other types of AI, Gen AI models
  • Maintains visibility of relevant compliance systems architecture and enhancement requirements to ensure compliance related systems at UOB are industry standard / up to date
  • Leads and represents GC in all related Compliance data, systems and analytics projects
  • Engages with systems vendors as senior representative to ensure UOB requirements are prioritized in system configurations and implementation
  • Manages the GC-CAI Division, including defining individual roles/responsibilities/goals; hiring; promotions; performance reviews etc. Ensures staff concerns are addressed and team members are given career advancement opportunities in order to maintain high morale and limit attrition
  • Monitors capacity and identifies skills / knowledge gaps to ensure different CAI teams have the required training, skills, experience and capacity
