As a Markets Legal (Fixed Income) Lawyer - Vice President in the APAC Markets Legal team, you will provide comprehensive legal coverage for the sales, structuring, and trade teams within the APAC Macro Markets businesses. Your role will involve offering structuring, documentation, and execution management support, along with advice on legal and regulatory issues. You will need to proactively identify issues related to the business and specific transactions, delivering commercially pragmatic advice. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with the Markets Legal team and other functions such as Compliance, Credit, Risk, Operations, Finance, and Tax. Job responsibilities
- Provide specialist legal advice to the business in relation to structured notes, issuance programmes, and product distribution while identifying and managing legal risk
- Draft, review and advise on programme and issuance documentation for fixed income structured note offerings, certificates and repackaging transactions
- Review and provide legal analysis on new business initiatives and new transaction structures, including legal and regulatory issues
- Instruct and liaise with external counsels and US Regulatory Legal for new initiatives and transactions
- Coordinate closely with international Legal colleagues to help ensure consistency, where appropriate, with JPMorgan's structured notes programmes and assist with the maintenance of the relevant programmes
- Advise and liaise with internal stakeholders, such as Business, Compliance, Credit, Risk, Operations, Finance and Tax, in respect of the foregoing
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- A qualified lawyer from a common law jurisdiction with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) and relevant experience gained at an international law firm and/or a leading financial institution
- Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong commercial focus with a solution-driven approach, and the ability to apply and analyse the implications of regulatory changes to a business environment
- Solid business partnership skills, with the ability to lead the business and set a clear direction in relation to managing regulatory change
- Outstanding technical legal and communication skills, including the ability to present clear and concise legal advice to the highest standard, and conduct trainings/workshops
- Ability to manage competing priorities, project-manage and co-ordinate large projects, in a dynamic global environment
- Team player, confident and proactive with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Written and spoken Chinese language skills preferred
