Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Database & Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain mission-critical database and application environments. This role is responsible for database administration, system administration, performance tuning, capacity planning, security management, and infrastructure support across Linux, Windows, and cloud platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with application development, support, network, and infrastructure teams to ensure the stability, availability, and security of enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise database platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Informix, MySQL, and other relational database management systems.
• Install, configure, patch, monitor, and optimize database and application environments to ensure high availability and performance.
• Perform database sizing, design reviews, performance tuning, capacity planning, and database reorganization activities.
• Maintain Windows and Linux server infrastructure supporting business-critical applications.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents, system alerts, and operational issues in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform regular system and database patching to maintain compliance with information security requirements.
• Support and maintain application servers and middleware technologies including JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, and related platforms.
• Maintain and support virtualization environments, including VMware and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Collaborate with application support and development teams to ensure systems are configured and maintained effectively.
• Evaluate, test, and implement new technologies, tools, and infrastructure solutions.
• Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and annual business continuity planning (BCP) testing activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and system configurations.
• Manage and resolve incidents, service requests, and change requests through ticketing systems such as Remedy.
• Build, maintain, and monitor production services, ensuring system reliability and operational excellence.
• Support batch processing environments and scheduled reporting systems.
• Work closely with network and infrastructure teams to ensure compatibility and performance across integrated environments.
• Participate in on-call support and 24/7 support rotations as required.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Linux/Unix system administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of database technologies including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Informix, MySQL, and similar platforms.
• Experience administering both Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, capacity planning, database design, and troubleshooting.
• Experience installing and supporting enterprise software such as Red Hat, Oracle, DB2, Informix, Apache, JBoss, and Tomcat.
• Knowledge of Linux scripting and automation practices.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware.
• Working knowledge of server infrastructure, networking, SAN storage, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and enterprise IT environments.
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation tools.
• Experience with load balancing technologies, firewalls, and network security concepts.
• Proficiency with system monitoring and management tools such as Splunk, NGINX, HAProxy, iptables, and related technologies.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining service quality and operational stability.
• Strong understanding of Change Management processes and controls.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese.
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications in Oracle, SQL Server, Linux, AWS, PostgreSQL, or related technologies.
• Experience supporting large-scale production environments and mission-critical applications.
• Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and modern cloud architectures.
• Experience working in highly regulated or security-focused environments.
