ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 Legal Counsel within the Legal, Contracts & Compliance Department of Thales NSEA.

Thales international organization’s mission in the Region is to foster and manage growth of Thales presence in all the countries of the Region for all Thales group activities in the defense, aerospace and cyber & digital domains.

In this context, Thales marks its presence through its local entities providing Thales Operational Units with marketing, sales and operations services in connection with the export of their solutions to customers in the Region.

The Job Holder will become an active player in the development and management of this regional business organization, implying close and cross-fertilizing relationships with many competences at senior levels, including without limitation Regional Directors, Country Directors, Key Account Managers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Compliance and Compliance Officers of the Region, partnership managers, Finance Directors, etc.

The Job Holder will be a key player in the deployment of Thales Compliance Program, and as such, will contribute to the evolution of the Thales Group organization as well as of its way of working, in order to take into consideration the evolutions of its environment, new laws & regulations and the best ethical and governance practices.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Legal Counsel, you are accountable for:

  • The Job Holder will be responsible for securing the legal aspects of the services implemented for supporting export initiatives undertaken by the Thales Operational Units in the relevant Region’s countries. With due reference to best practices and ethics rules, she/he will participate in identification, selection and qualification of the business and industrial partners and be responsible for analyzing, implementing and monitoring due diligence files, in close coordination with the Country Directors and all relevant local functions.
  • The Job Holder will be as close as possible to operational functions and help in elaborating relevant contractual solutions and identifying legal stakes so that risks are detected, measured and mitigated. In compliance with Thales Group policy, the Job Holder will interface with external lawyers for analysis and management of specific legal issues in the framework of complex contractual and/or legal arrangements in the Region.
  • The Job Holder will be responsible for performing trainings in different domains of the Thales Compliance Program, to employees of the Region and from the Thales Operating Units located across the world.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

  • The Job Holder shall have a minimum of 4 years professional experience as in-house lawyer or legal & contracts manager providing support to business in an international environment.
  • He/She shall have a good practice of international environment and compliance matters.
  • He/She shall have a perfect command of French and English, as this role requires frequent and effective communication with French-speaking teammates and customers. Fluency in these languages is essential to ensure smooth coordination, foster strong working relationships, and successfully manage interactions across diverse teams and client bases. Proficiency in both languages will enable the candidate to navigate complex conversations, facilitate clear information exchange, and contribute to the overall success of the team
  • He/She shall be autonomous, rigorous, self-confident, "teamwork capable", well organized, problem solver oriented and have an interest for the Region’s cultures, traditions and way of life.
