About the Role
Zuhlke is hiring a Lead Product Designer to support discovery phases for digital products within Singapore government agencies. You will collaborate closely with the discovery team to understand user needs, clarify business objectives, and define product experiences that are usable, accessible to the public, operationally efficient, and feasible to implement.
This is a hands-on design role suited for someone who naturally dives into digital experiences: mapping product and data flows, examining interaction patterns, rapidly shaping prototypes for testing, and refining visual craft to create clear, practical, build-ready solutions. You focus on the product layer, while working side-by-side with the Service Designer who covers the broader service ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead user discovery activities: interviews, contextual inquiry, accelerated usability testing, and synthesising insights into clear product opportunities.
- Map user journeys and product workflows, capturing both frontstage interactions and essential backstage steps.
- Create rapid, testable prototypes in Figma to explore concepts, validate assumptions, and support team alignment.
- Design accessible, intuitive, and consistent product experiences using design systems and established patterns.
- Collaborate closely with the Service Designer to ensure product flows align with the end-to-end service, operational reality, and policy constraints.
- Facilitate structured workshops and discussions to align stakeholders on goals, assumptions, and decisions.
- Present product insights and design trade-offs clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Produce clear handover artefacts: flows, prototypes, states, and specifications ready for engineering.
- Contribute to Zuhlke’s consulting quality by identifying risks early and offering pragmatic, outcome-oriented recommendations.
Nice to Have
- Experience with digital services in the public sector.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design approaches.
- Exposure to service design concepts such as journey mapping, operational alignment, and readiness planning.
- Awareness of integration, policy, and technical constraints common in government environments.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or similar roles, with a portfolio showing complex digital products and strong interaction design.
- Strong experience running usability testing within accelerated discovery timelines.
- Ability to lead discovery end-to-end: planning research, facilitating sessions, synthesising insights, mapping flows, prototyping, and validating concepts.
- Deep comfort with mapping product and data flows, clarifying edge cases, and refining interaction patterns.
- High proficiency in Figma for design and prototyping.
- Clear communication and facilitation skills, able to support alignment across diverse stakeholders.
- Hands-on mindset and ease working in cross-functional, agile discovery teams.
If you feel you don't meet all the requirements, we are still happy to get to know you, learn more about your ambitions and ideas and look forward to receiving your application!
