What you can expect?

As a Junior DevOps Engineer/System Administrator at NetVirta, you will be an integral part of our DevOps team, working closely with our existing DevOps Engineers to support our development teams and infrastructure. 

You’ll be exposed to an array of DevOps technologies within your role where you'll be supporting our R&D teams, improving reliability of our cloud platforms, as well as developing and maintaining our CI/CD pipelines. You will implement modern best practices, improve development cycle time, and provide fast and relevant feedback to the rest of the development team. You are part of the team that raises the productivity of the company by leaps and bounds! 

Responsibilities

  • Manage incidents and requests across 1st, and 2nd line
  • Deploy new software and changes for our R&D teams
  • Build and maintain development, staging and production cloud infrastructure including Kubernetes clusters, Ubuntu servers, databases, etc
  • Monitor and periodically applying the latest security patches and software updates
  • Collaborate with other members of the company to ensure seamless integration of the company's products with IT systems 
  • Develop and enhance our software delivery pipelines to reduce deployment time

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technology focused certifications or experience
  • Proficient with Linux operating environments
  • Knowledgeable in version control systems e.g. Git/SVN/Perforce
  • Good knowledge of one or more programming languages: Python, Go, C++, Kotlin/Java, Swift/Objective C
  • Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Traits

  • Advanced knowledge of and experience working with server and client machines running Ubuntu
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Terraform
  • Experience with automation: scripting, testing and documentation of processes
  • Experience with virtualization and containerisation technologies (K8s/ Docker Swarm)
  • Experience in deploying apps to cloud services like AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Motivated self-starter who is quick to adapt and work with minimal supervision
  • Active and keen learner who keeps up-to-date with industry trends
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams

Good-to-Have

  • Experience in CI tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bitbucket pipelines, Circle CI)
  • Experience in logging and monitoring tools (ELK/Grafana/Prometheus)
  • Experience in Package managers like npm, Carthage, Conan, Maven 
  • Experience in other languages apart from your specialization, e.g  C++, Objective C, Swift, Java, Gradle, Kotlin, Ruby 
  • Familiar with the modern Application Delivery Lifecycle
