As a Business Manager & Business Control Manager, you'll support the Japan Equity business by managing key strategic business initiatives as well as regulatory obligations, operational risks, and supervisory requirements. You'll work closely with the Front Office, providing analytics for business decisions and ensuring the implementation of local business strategies. Your role is crucial in maintaining disciplined governance and driving change in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

As a Business Manager & Business Control Manager, you'll support the Japan Equity business by managing key strategic business initiatives as well as regulatory obligations, operational risks, and supervisory requirements. You'll work closely with the Front Office, providing analytics for business decisions and ensuring the implementation of local business strategies. Your role is crucial in maintaining disciplined governance and driving change in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide analytics for business decisions and drive change initiatives.
- Maintain governance forums covering business priorities.
- Provide management assistance, for instance by convening business reviews and management meetings
- Analyze business financials and competitive landscape.
- Coordinate Japan's Equities annual Plan/Budget process and forecasting.
- Assist in investment and productivity initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted control advisor to the Front Office.
- Execute business controls, risk governance, and reporting strategies.
- Identify and remediate control gaps and conduct risk assessments.
- Oversee Front Office supervision and exception management.
- Develop, review, and implement Policies & Procedures.
Prepare for examinations, audits, and regulatory initiatives
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in financial industry roles such as middle office, trading, audit, or compliance.
- Strong understanding of Equities products and markets.
- Expertise in controls and their application to business processes.
- Experience in coordinating business strategies and governance
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process re-engineering skills.
- Fluent in Japanese and English, both verbal and written.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- Ability to work with details while not sacrificing the overall business big picture
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business across the multiple countries the franchise spans
- Team orientated, with the ability to fit into and lead a small, focused and successful management team
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience in Markets-related functions.
- Proven ability to manage regulatory obligations and operational risks.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal/external parties.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of local/global regulatory environments.
- Interest in participating in key initiatives and diverse issues.
- Proficient user of MS suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge/experience with one or several dash-boarding/automation like Tableau, Alteryx, etc.
