Position Overview: 

The IT Specialist performs installation and support of computers and other IT resources for corporate offices and warehouse facilities. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong desire to work in a dynamic, growing environment and be capable of learning and operating the technology and processes used by our global distribution organization. The individual will be directly supporting users of our ERP system and is expected to be able to take ownership of issues and see them through resolution.   

Area(s) of Responsibility:

  • Provide local and remote support to users worldwide
  • Become an expert in Velocity IT systems and application use

Essential Functions:

  • Support desktops, notebooks, printers and network connected equipment
  • Support phone systems
  • Ensure requests from users are logged and escalation procedures followed
  • Maintain problem status and resolution status in ticketing database
  • Manage the deployment of new equipment and services to regional facilities
  • Develop and maintain operational and system level documentation
  • Participate in troubleshooting of hardware, software and network systems

Requirements: 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or equivalent
  • Ability to converse and read in Mandarin as the individual will need to support our offices in China
  • Fluent in English
  • Min 3 years desktop support experience in corporate environment
  • Experience supporting via GoToAssist, TeamViewer, BOMGAR, etc.
  • Strong PC hardware installation and repair experience
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Programming experience in a scripting language
  • Working knowledge of DHCP and network tools (ping, traceroute, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of DNS and associated tools (whois, nslookup, dig, etc.)
  • Experience with managing users and groups in Active Directory
  • Experience with installation and setup of wired and wireless networking
  • Heavy computer/keyboard use
  • Lifting of up to 22 Kg equipment for installation
  • Standing, climbing, stooping to install equipment and cabling
  • Able to perform after hours and weekend support as necessary
  • Working hours: 8:30am - 5:30pm
  • Must be eligible to work in Singapore - Singaporean or Singapore PR
