Investment Analysts at Capital Group are responsible for the research, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of financial and market information upon which investment decisions are made. Each Investment Analyst manages assets in areas of high conviction in the market. Capital Research Global Investors (CRGI), one of three equity investment divisions within Capital Group, is seeking an Investment Analyst to focus on identifying long term equity investment opportunities in small and mid-capitalisation companies within Japan.

In addition to continually sharing your insights and recommendations with Portfolio Managers, a research portfolio will be allocated to you where you will have the opportunity to bring your financial convictions to life. You will work in an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and creativity to continually develop your own investment style. You will work alongside the industry’s most respected investment professionals and have access to senior management at a diverse set of companies.

Qualifications:

  • Highly relevant investment experience and a familiarity with multiple sectors and business models

  • Superior research skills and the drive to develop and share investment insight from multiple angles

  • Ability to work proactively and creatively in a global team environment, and with a range of internal stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of equity markets, with prior direct experience investing in Japanese equities in particular, and a demonstrated track record of success

  • Comfortable and familiar with presenting research in a variety of ways, for example through actionable investment reports, supported by excellent written and oral communication skills

  • An MBA or CFA qualification is not a prerequisite, although preferred

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conduct primary, direct research of small and mid-cap companies across Japan

  • Analyse economic, financial and industry trends, and proactively communicate these findings with other analysts and portfolio managers

  • Maintain regular contact with company management teams and industry participants

  • Produce written reports and regular updates, as needed

  • Making investment recommendations to portfolio managers

  • Manage a portfolio of securities drawn from your sector coverage

This role will report to the Research Director for Small and Mid-cap research, based in London. Other key relationships include Portfolio managers and investment analysts within CRGI, and sector analysts within other divisions of Capital Group.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
