The Industrial IT/OT Engineer plays a key role in connecting operational technology (OT) with information technology (IT) across manufacturing and logistics environments. This role focuses on designing, integrating, and supporting secure, reliable systems that enable seamless data flow between shop‑floor automation equipment and enterprise IT platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4–7 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation or IT/OT systems within manufacturing or logistics.
- Demonstrated ability to identify efficiency, process‑improvement, or cost‑reduction opportunities.
- Experience evaluating and supporting technologies such as inventory tracking(RFID), Cobots, AMRs, or automated conveyor systems.
- Experience integrating automation systems or devices with ERP systems and third‑party applications.
- Strong motivation to learn new technologies and stay current with trends in automation and logistics optimization.
- Experience supporting or contributing to projects; familiarity with project coordination and vendor management.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMI, or MES platforms (E.g. Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric).
- Understanding of servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), and enterprise storage concepts.
- Good understanding of industrial networking, including Ethernet, VLANs, firewalls, routing, and switching.
- Experience with common OT communication protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, and integration with ERP or cloud systems.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux, Red Hat, and Windows operating systems.
- Exposure to IIoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Ignition, or similar.
- Skills in data acquisition, historian systems, or analytics tools.
- Basic scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Design, support, and maintain IT/OT network architecture including industrial Ethernet, firewalls, and segmentation.
- Integrate PLCs, SCADA, MES, and other automation systems with enterprise IT platforms and databases.
- Apply and support cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems (ICS).
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to enable Industry 4.0, digital manufacturing, and automation initiatives.
- Troubleshoot IT/OT issues across production environments to ensure system uptime and reliability.
- Support global automation deployments and collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure adherence to industry standards and organizational policies.
Education / Certifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
