A Snapshot

As the High Voltage Design Manager APAC, reporting to the Technical Director HV & Utility, you will work collaboratively with Product and Design across the APAC region making your mark in several ways:
•    Assist the Technical Director HV & Utility to peer review and manage the AirTrunk standard HV campus design.
•    Working with the Technical Director HV & Utility & Energy & Utility Manager to interface with the Electrical Supply Authorities to switch and transform the transmission voltage [66kV to 500kV] to the AirTrunk campus distribution voltage [132kV, 33kV, 22kV, 6.6kV] for 100MW+ capacities.
•    Assisting the Site Selection and Masterplanning Teams to select and plan the campuses.
•    Develop unique building scale HV designs, downstream of the campus infrastructure or ESA point of connection [for a single building].
•    Integrating new technologies to achieve Net Carbon Zero targets: BESS, solar, embedded generation.
•    Periodic visits to regions within the APAC for factory testing and site visits.

Your Day to Day

•    Internal peer review of HV designs, proposed equipment and General Contractors (GC) submissions
•    Assist in developing and managing AirTrunk HV Specification and Technical Requirements. 
•    Ensure lessons learnt and improvements are effectively managed.
•    Maintain consistency across all the AirTrunk APAC campuses.
•    Working closely with the Energy, Development and Customer Solutions Teams.
•    Facilitate the integration of grid connected BESS and other technologies.
•    Develop AirTrunk’s HV on site networks to be as safe as possible, meeting or exceeding local code requirement and industry best practice
•    Develop and manage the HV network design on new and existing AirTrunk networks, advising on primary and secondary HV substation design, MV distribution, SCADA, earthing and DC systems.
•    Provide continual improvement to the existing HV systems designs by collaborating with the technology team during design phases to give key HV operational input.
•    Specify and review AirTrunk’s HV network owner supplied equipment OSE to all applicable specifications and required standards.
•    Assist in negotiating at a technical level with electrical supply authorities.
•    Assist the Development Team’s Utility Power Engineer to provide technical assistance during construction work.  Work with the Operation Team’s Electrical Systems Specialist in the resolution of incident related, standing, or emerging problems which fall outside of the local operations capacity.
•    Identify cost saving opportunities and system improvements.
•    Assist project and commissioning engineers with electrical related issues when required.
•    Assist Development Team reviews and provide operational guidance to designs.
•    Assist Energy Team with the negotiation of contracts and tariffs with the Energy Retailers
•    Involvement in Safety-in-Design lifecycle

Requirements

  • Professional qualifications in Electrical Engineering and with Post graduate qualifications will be a bonus.
  • Registered professional engineer in country of residence.
    •    Min, 10years extensive experience with a utility or in electrical contracting, engineering consultancy as a HV Engineer delivering 10MW+ projects, minimum 10 years’ experience. 
    •    Experience with the Transmission & Distribution industry as it relates to infrastructure and energy retailing.
    •    Excellent technical knowledge of HV systems and assets such as switchgear, transformers, protection systems, SCADA and earthing systems.
    •    In depth knowledge of substation primary and secondary design.
    •    In-Depth knowledge in power system software such as ETAP and PSCAD.
    •    Good understanding of BESS, solar and embedded generation systems.
    •    Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines.
    •    Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    •    Ability to work across different teams such as design, development and data centre operations teams.
    •    Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
    •    Willingness to travel throughout Asia-Pacific; previous Asia-Pacific experience preferred.
    •    Strong communicator and ability to interact with all professional levels within an organisation.
    •    Professional attitude with persuasive skills in making things happen.
    •    Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
