Objective:
The Head of Portfolio Management will establish and lead a new cross-functional strategic function to shape JOBU's overall oncology portfolio strategy in Japan by integrating commercial, pricing/access, cross-functional (e.g., medical, development), and external perspectives.
The position will serve as a key cross-functional interface, representing JOBU in strategic discussions across internal and global stakeholders, and will lead a team responsible for New Product Planning (NPP); and Market Access & Pricing.
In addition to leading current strategic initiatives, the role will also be responsible for identifying organizational capability gaps and enhancing internal functions to support JOBU's future growth. The scope and priorities of this role may evolve over time in alignment with JOBU's strategic direction and external market dynamics.

In addition to leading current strategic initiatives, the role will also be responsible for identifying organizational capability gaps and enhancing internal functions to support JOBU's future growth. The scope and priorities of this role may evolve over time in alignment with JOBU's strategic direction and external market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and Lead the Portfolio Management Function
- Identify and reinforce functional capabilities needed to support JOBU's mid- to long-term goals, incorporating both existing and newly required elements.
- Establish and lead a group of strategic professionals responsible for NPP and Access/Pricing.
2. Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategic Alignment
- Represent JOBU in key internal and global discussions on asset development and lifecycle strategy.
- Drive collaboration with Medical Affairs, OTAU, Marketing, JPBU Market Access, and global functions to ensure integrated decision-making from early development to post-launch.
- Enable seamless cross-functional integration and alignment to deliver asset value in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support commercial evaluation and strategic input for external opportunities (e.g., BD deals, partnerships), including revenue forecasting, strategic fit, and portfolio impact.
3. Pipeline and Portfolio Strategy Development
- Develop and maintain mid- to long-term asset strategies, ensuring alignment with cross-functional partners and evolving market expectations.
- Integrate market trends, evidence needs, and potential indication opportunities into asset strategy discussions, in close coordination with relevant functions
4. Market Access and Pricing Lead
- Oversee pricing and access strategy development not only for pipeline assets but also for marketed products, in close coordination with Global PVPA and JPBU Access teams.
- Anticipate and respond to price-related policy shifts and healthcare system changes in Japan.
5. Talent Development and Organizational Leadership
- Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing team aligned with Takeda's values and leadership expectations.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and enterprise-minded culture.
- Drive talent pipeline and succession planning to ensure sustainable leadership and capability within the team
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or related field
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree
Experience & Skills
- Deep experience in Oncology and/or pharmaceutical portfolio strategy, ideally across NPP, pricing/access, and/or BD evaluation functions.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional initiatives and influencing across Commercial, Medical, R&D, Access functions, and Global senior stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, business acumen, and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building new functions or capabilities from the ground up.
- Fluent in Japanese and business-level English.
Organizational Scope
- This role will lead a small but evolving team covering areas such as New Product Planning, Pricing & Access. The exact composition of the team may flex over time based on business needs and organizational design
- Key Interfaces: Medical Affairs, R&D (OTAU), Regulatory, Marketing, Global Teams (GOPPS, PVPA), JPBU Access & Pricing

- Allowances: Commutation, Housing, Overtime Work etc.
- Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year
- Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45
- Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
