We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Design to lead our design team in creating innovative, user-centric products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UI/UX, typography, color theory, and strategic project management, with a proven ability to balance creativity and practicality. This role involves overseeing product design, marketing design and brand management, and quality assurance, ensuring alignment with business goals and enhancing the overall user experience.

Key responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the design team(20 designers), fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
  • Develop and implement design strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define the design vision and strategy.
  • Advocate for user-centric design across the organization.


Design & Development:

  • Oversee the entire design process, from conceptualization to final implementation.
  • Ensure the design team delivers high-quality, innovative, and user-friendly products.
  • Lead the design of key projects, including VPN apps, landing pages, and future product portfolio expansion.
  • Manage and enhance the company’s brand identity and visual design language.


Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective design solutions.
  • Facilitate clear and concise communication between the design team and other departments.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to senior management and stakeholders.


Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and maintain design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across all products.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback to the team.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to ensure the team remains at the forefront of innovation.


Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of design projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage resources effectively, balancing team workload and project priorities.

 Your team’s success metrics

  • User satisfaction scores from usability testing and user feedback.
  • Improvement in key user metrics (e.g., Net Promoter Score, Customer Satisfaction).
  • Engagement metrics such as user retention and task completion rates.
  • Success rate of design experiments and A/B tests.
  • Impact of design changes on business metrics (e.g., conversion rates, revenue).
  • Consistency of visual communications across all channels.
  • Employee satisfaction and retention rates within the design team.
  • Speed of unblocking other teams, many of which will take on dependencies on your centralized team.

 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in at least two digital design disciplines (e.g., UX/UI, product design, app design, web design, graphics, illustrations, or brand design).
  • 5+ years of experience leading people. Must have experience hiring, conducting performance reviews, and creating skill development plans for your direct reports. 
  • Experience in leading diverse teams and managing resources effectively.
  • Ability to align design strategies with business goals and user needs.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and innovative solutions that reflects best practices and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communicator with excellent command of the English language.
  • Ability to align design strategies with business goals and user needs.
  • Experience in data-driven design decisions and experimentation for measuring business impact.
  • Knowledge of user research, persona creation, and journey mapping.
  • Great organizational and project management skills. Leading diverse teams and managing resources effectively.

 Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in the tech industry, however we’re open to an agency background as well.
  • Proficiency in client side applications with a general understanding of code.
  • Experience in both marketing and product design.
