As the Head of Data & AI Compliance - Executive Director in the Conduct and Operational Risk team, you will oversee and challenge AI, privacy, and data risk management across APAC. You will serve as the authoritative subject-matter expert on regulatory compliance for data governance, AI technologies, and privacy protection. You will partner with business leaders, technology, and compliance professionals to ensure robust governance, regulatory compliance, and the highest standards of AI and data risk oversight. Your work will help us anticipate and address emerging risks, protect stakeholders, and maintain our reputation for excellence.

Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and challenge business compliance with APAC laws, rules, and regulations related to AI, privacy, and data risks
- Develop, implement, and maintain APAC-specific AI, privacy, and data risk management policies and procedures
- Lead regulatory engagements, including responding to queries, meetings, and examinations with data protection and other relevant authorities
- Partner with senior leaders to provide credible challenge on risk and control assessments, issue identification, remediation, and control effectiveness for AI, privacy, and data risks
- Engage with internal stakeholders, including Technology, Legal, the Chief Data and Analytics Office, and business owners, to ensure regulatory and technical requirements are met
- Design and execute monitoring and testing activities, working with technology teams to identify and assess AI, privacy, and data risks and drive mitigation actions
- Oversee risk assessments for new AI and data-driven projects and initiatives
- Execute compliance and operational risk assessments in line with global oversight programs and local regulatory obligations
- Report on AI, privacy, and data risk management activities, including challenges, monitoring, and testing, to senior management and escalate emerging risks as needed
- Represent Compliance in relevant industry and regulatory forums (e.g., ABS-MAS AI in Finance Roundtable, HKMA-MAS AI Working Group, ASIFMA AI & Data Policy Committee, APAC Privacy Authorities Network)
- Support the business to translate regulatory requirements into technical compliance obligations (e.g., data lineage tracking, explainability thresholds, bias testing protocols, privacy impact assessments).
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data and Information Architecture, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years' experience in artificial intelligence, privacy risk, data protection, data science, or a related field within the financial services industry
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing AI, privacy, or data risk management policies and procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience in AI, privacy, or data risk management
- Experience supporting regulatory engagements and managing relationships with regulatory authorities focusing on data, AI, and privacy-focused examinations or enforcement actions in APAC
- Technical fluency in data governance tools and practices (e.g., data catalogs, lineage tracking, quality metrics)
- Technical fluency in machine learning techniques and evaluation frameworks, including large language models (architecture, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, safety mechanisms)
- Experience with explainability and fairness toolkits (e.g., SHAP, LIME, AIF360) and privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, federated learning, anonymization)
- Knowledge of the APAC regulatory landscape for data, AI, and privacy, and ability to translate regulatory text into technical control specifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience influencing senior business stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience within the financial services industry in APAC
- Advanced data analytics and visualization skills (e.g., Python, R, Alteryx, Tableau, Excel)
- In-depth knowledge of relevant AI, privacy, and data laws in the APAC region
- Experience overseeing risk assessments for AI and data-driven projects
- Experience working with cross-functional and regional teams
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications in AI, privacy, data science, or compliance
- Previous compliance leadership roles at Tier-1 APAC banks or global banks with large APAC footprints.
