Role Overview
Coupang seeks a highly skilled Global Treasury & Markets Principal to lead our Singapore based Treasury & Markets function with a strong emphasis on structured credit, strategic finance, and global capital markets execution.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience from investment banking, private credit, or similar environments and can drive end-to-end financing solutions while also overseeing core APAC treasury operations.
This role requires strong analytical skills, high ownership, and comfort operating in a fast-moving, high growth environment
Key Responsibilities
A) Strategic Finance, Capital Markets & Structured Credit
- Support global markets strategy: Work with the Global Markets team to structure and execute bilateral loans, RCFs, term loans, private placements, and intercompany funding.
- Drive structured finance initiatives, including structured finance facilities, project/JV financing, and bespoke capital solutions.
- Build and maintain financial models for deal sizing, covenants, economic and scenario analysis, and hedging impacts.
- Maintain a database of executed financings, along with covenant requirements for each, and manage covenant compliance.
- Help manage banking relationships: pricing, documentation, mandates, and KYC oversight.
- Deliver analytical support for strategic finance decisions, cash, and leverage analysis.
- Ensure alignment with global capital structure strategy, risk frameworks, and compliance standards.
B) Treasury Operations & Controls
- Oversee daily liquidity and cash management for Singapore entities.
- Manage payments, bank connectivity (SWIFT/host-to-host), and AML/sanctions requirements.
- Support FX execution, settlements, and policy aligned risk management.
- Lead month-end treasury close activities and statutory/management reporting in partnership with Finance.
- Maintain strong controls across policies, DOA, KYC, MAS requirements, and data/privacy compliance.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and enhancements to TMS, connectivity, and reporting tools.
- Partners cross functionally with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Payroll, and business teams on regional initiatives and functionally with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Payroll, and business teams on regional initiatives and cashflow related programs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CFA, or ACT preferred.
- 7+ years of capital markets and treasury experience, including work in investment banking, private credit, or structured finance.
- Demonstrated execution of structured transactions, private credit, or project/JV financings.
- Strong financial modeling and scenario analysis skills
- Knowledge of banking systems, FX/rates, payment rails, etc.
- Proficiency with SAP, TMS platforms (Kyriba/SAP TRM), Bloomberg, and Microsoft 365.
- Excellent English communication; an additional Asian language is a plus.
