Boeing is seeking an experienced Regional Sustainability Manager in APAC to join our Global Sustainability Engagement and Partnerships (GSEP) team based in the Asia Pacific region (APAC) (primary location: Australia with secondary location in Singapore and Japan).  This position will require approximately up to 50% travel within the Region of responsibility.

You will have proven ability and aviation awareness to lead high performing teams of sustainability specialists to drive regional sustainability strategies, support customer priorities, and drive strategy into actionable outcomes. You will have demonstrated competency to engage and inspire multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive involvement and meaningful change on sustainability topics with a natural propensity to build relationships and strong business acumen to assess strengths and weaknesses of projects developed in the aviation sustainability space.

This team contributes to public policy development, partnership creation, and customer collaborations and is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and engaged professional to serve as a valuable contributor toward our public policy and partnership objectives in the field of Sustainability.

Role Responsibilities:

This senior management role will manage a team of sustainability specialists in the APAC region developing and implementing Boeing’s regional strategies in public policy advocacy, partnership development and external positioning in the areas of aviation sustainability. You will build a high performing team of regional sustainability specialists to provide thought leadership in sustainability internally and externally. You will develop and execute integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.

1. Policy

  • Lead the team to track and analyze pending and existing regulation, legislation, news releases and public policy issues in the areas of aerospace and defense environmental policies, national climate policies, and the wider ESG space.
  • Partner with relevant colleagues around the globe to develop and advance an effective e policy agenda.
  • Perform detailed stakeholder map and work with internal/external stakeholders to inform and guide the company position and resulting advocacy plans in order to best represent the interests of the company. Specifically, advocate for policies that support and incentivize the scaling of Sustainability Aviation Fuels (SAF) for aerospace and defense, regulatory frameworks that support an energy transition (including, but not limited to, renewables and hydrogen), as well as advocate for R&D opportunities and funding.
  • Develop and nurture relationships, and the company position with external institutional stakeholders including government and non-governmental organizations, customer and supplier coalitions, business associations, and policy-oriented think tanks. 

2. Partnerships

  • Lead the team to collaborate with Boeing business units (commercial, defense and services) and relevant functions (e.g. Government Operations/Affairs, Safety and Regulatory Affairs, Enterprise Sustainability, Engineering, etc.) to understand and help advance their strategies, goals, and business activities through engagements in the Sustainability space. 
  • Identify and help develop relevant external partnership and collaboration opportunities in the area of “sustainable aviation”, with particular focus on SAF.
  • Build strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships internally to improve processes and develop innovative solutions together.

3. Positioning

  • Lead the team to partner with the Communications function and others to help tell the exciting story of Boeing’s track record and future ambition in the area of ESG.
  • Identify relevant forums to engage new audiences and to stimulate conversations around the progress made and work ahead toward further reducing aviation’s carbon footprint.
  • Externally represent the company’s sustainability commitment and interest by attending and speaking at conferences, on panels, and at industry (business, technology) expert workshops.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and typically more than 15 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Experience in government relations, environmental sustainability, aviation or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of the aviation sector
  • Experience in Politics, Campaigns, Public affairs, government relations, and/or business development and/or issue advocacy, including stakeholder mapping.
  • Work experience within the government, political organizations, think-tanks, or other related roles
  • Experience in leading high performing virtual and regional teams across countries
