Role Description: Provides strategic thought leadership and direction to the functions within the Global Investment Control (GIC) department. Anticipates future business needs, identifies opportunities to enhance capabilities, mitigates risk, sponsors organizational change, contributes to broad business initiatives and defines and implements strategic direction for Global Investment Control. Provides leadership to build effective teams through a high degree of influence, communication and drive for results.
 

Responsibilities

  • Defines strategic direction, leads and manages GIC departmental functions and initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement and future business needs.
     

  • Participates in decision-making at a global, regional, local and cross-functional capacity.
     

  • Collaborates with senior leadership in GIC and Investment Operations (IO), including other senior managers to develop strategic goals and objectives, prioritize efforts and coordinate communication and execution.
     

  • Participates in annual business and budget planning including periodic business reviews.
     

  • Leads, manages and oversees projects with broad business impact that may impact multiple functions to ensure alignment with business plans and strategy
    - Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the functionalities and operational intersections of Global Investment Control and Capital Group.
    - Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the securities and investment business and Capital Group’s investment process and ability to apply to work assignments.
     

  • Ensures appropriate staffing in order to complete department responsibilities and ensure long-term succession planning.
     

  • Provides leadership to build effective teams through a high degree of influence, communication and drive for results.
     

  • Models Capital Group’s core values and enhances the culture.  
     

  • Proactively identifies broad risks and oversees implementation of controls to mitigate and assist in issue and/or exception resolution as necessary.
     

  • Consults with and advises senior leadership and governance committees on strategic business matters.
     

  • Keeps abreast of internal and external trends, mandate changes and global regulatory updates and determines how the impact of those adjustments will affect business operations. Develops, recommends and manages processes, procedures and practices within department.
     

  • Cultivates and manages relationships with internal and external parties including vendors, clients, auditors, regulators and Boards.
     

  • Manages change and leads through transitions positively and constructively.
     

  • May participate in industry groups to represent Capital.
     

  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
     

  • This role will be based in the Singapore office.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
