At JPMorgan Chase, we are dedicated to helping our clients achieve their long-term strategic goals through the delivery of holistic advice, investment, corporate and commercial banking solutions, and targeted capital deployment. The Corporate Advisory team, comprising Corporate Finance Advisory, M&A Structuring, Ratings Advisory, Infrastructure Finance & Advisory, Center for Carbon Transition ("CCT") and the Sustainable Solutions teams partners with coverage and product groups across Global Banking, as well as the Corporate Sustainability team, to drive global cross-product coordination.
Our Sustainable Solutions team is a specialist group of investment bankers who provide sustainability-related advice and transaction support to advance sustainability solutions for interested clients and provide them with access to sustainability-focused capital across equity, debt capital markets, and private markets. Sustainable Solutions also coordinates our Firm's investment banking coverage of clients in emerging green economy sectors. The group works with other commercial, corporate and investment banking teams across Global Banking to identify and execute sustainability advisory and product opportunities.
As a Senior Associate/VP in the APAC Sustainable Solutions team, you will work directly with the APAC Head and the global team of Sustainable Solutions, industry and country coverage, product partners, and other expert professionals at the heart of a leading global bank, where you will benefit from numerous development opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement on sustainability affairs to identify and capitalize on strategic opportunities.
  • Promote and develop approaches to sustainability that are consistent with the overall bank-wide sustainability strategy and corporate/market trends in the APAC region, acting as a sustainability representative for clients and other external stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Collaborate with senior management and relationship managers to engage C-suite decision-makers and sustainability/IR professionals of key clients to elevate sustainability dialogue.
  • Contribute through subject matter expertise to the upskilling and deep knowledge of environmental and social themes, issues, and topics, including global and regional sustainability themes in a business context, for coverage/product partners.
  • Develop materials for client meetings, including market comparables, industry trends, and investor/regulatory expectations, to engage C-suite decision-makers of key clients, elevate sustainability dialogue, and consistently position the Firm as a value-additive partner/trusted advisor.
  • Collaborate closely with industry/product/country teams on transaction origination and execution, including Equity Capital Market (e.g., Initial Public Offerings (IPO)), Debt Capital Market (e.g., bond issuance), lending (e.g., syndication), and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
  • Lead/contribute to original thought leadership research pieces, including identifying trends in sustainable fund flows and corporate and investor best practices, and contribute to the industry-leading monthly sustainability newsletter.
  • Interact closely with the global Sustainable Solutions team and lead execution on various strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in engagement with sustainability-focused corporates, investors, and public policymakers; attend key industry or regulatory events as necessary.
  • Inform internal processes related to managing corporate sustainability strategy, portfolio decarbonization targets, and Climate, Nature, and Social risks.
  • Stay up to date on sustainability-related research/trends/public policy and develop original content for client meetings.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Degree in Banking, Finance, Sustainability or any related field from a reputable institution.
  • At minimum 5 years of work experience in finance industry and/or sustainability-related role in corporate, banking, consulting or financial/asset management
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability-related topics in a commercial context.
  • Desire to work across sectors and gain exposure to a broad set of transactions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Financial modeling, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
  • Ability to present complex ideas plainly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills and multicultural awareness and sensitivity, including the ability to work collaboratively in a team and proactively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort with ambiguity. Self-starter, curious, and good at researching new topics.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Firm's Purpose and Business Principles and Code of Conduct , work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Fluency in written and spoken business English and Chinese (Mandarin) and/or Japanese as relevant to country requirements.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience in banking coverage, sustainability, portfolio management, equity/credit research or related fields.
  • Relevant technical knowledge of sustainability, supply chains, sustainability regulation, climate change, nature, and biodiversity.

This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge, and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
