The Geneos ITRS Tool Implementation and Support Engineer will implement and maintain Geneos monitoring solutions, provide support, develop custom plugins, and collaborate with teams on monitoring requirements.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geneos ITRS Tool Implementation and Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the Geneos ITRS platform across our critical IT infrastructure and applications. You will work closely with various technology teams, including infrastructure, applications, and operations, to ensure effective monitoring, alerting, and proactive issue detection using the Geneos suite.
Responsibilities:
- Implementation & Configuration:
- Design and implement Geneos monitoring solutions based on business and technical requirements.
- Install, configure, and customize Geneos components including Gateways, Probes, Agents, and Active Dashboards.
- Develop and configure rules, alerts, actions, and notifications within Geneos.
- Integrate Geneos with other monitoring and management tools.
- Define and implement security configurations within the Geneos environment.
- Support & Maintenance:
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for the Geneos ITRS platform, troubleshooting issues and resolving incidents in a timely manner.
- Perform regular health checks, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for the Geneos infrastructure.
- Apply patches, upgrades, and perform system maintenance tasks on the Geneos environment.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for Geneos configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical issues.
- Development & Automation:
- Develop and maintain custom Geneos plugins, scripts, and integrations using languages like Python, Groovy, or other relevant scripting tools.
- Identify opportunities for automation of repetitive tasks related to Geneos management and support.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our monitoring capabilities and processes.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with infrastructure, application development, and operations teams to understand their monitoring requirements.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding Geneos status, issues, and planned changes.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise on Geneos capabilities.
- Provide training and guidance to other team members on Geneos usage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, databases, storage) and application architectures.

- Experience in developing and configuring Geneos rules, alerts, actions, and notifications.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, or shell scripting for automation and custom plugin development.
- Solid understanding of monitoring best practices and ITIL framework.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with integrating Geneos with other monitoring and management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Grafana, Splunk) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring concepts and tools is a plus.
- ITRS Geneos certification is a plus
